Away Match Day Thread +++ 3/2/2018 Charlton Athletic v OUFC +++

Never started one of these before, but this will be one of the few games this season I can actually attend so am absolutely buzzing for it!

Got a strangely good feeling about this. They've won three in a row in the league and no-one on this forum needs telling that we've done pretty badly recently, but I can see us nipping a 2-1 win - Ledson with a last gasp winner in front of a jubilant away end before doing his best Wolf of Wall Street impression and screaming I'M NOT f*****g LEAVING!

DID I NOT SAY

Y
I wasn't at the game today, Jerome, but....How did Duffy do? Didn't hear him mentioned once.

That last 10 min was unbelievable though - OM was listening on Radox and Kept very very close to the defibrillator....

Brilliant comebacks - well done lads

????
Yeah, likewise. Somehow felt like this was going to be a huge result, one way or the other. And it went the right way - our best result of the season. Sounded like we had more pace and threat from the new guys.

Johnson not even on the bench at Boro bet he wished he had not thrown his toys out of the pram looking to move last season

Didn’t go but spoke to a mate who did, Kane very good, Buckley_Rickets good, Smith_Brown needs To improve and as for Napa and his bit of skill at the end, awesome.

Anyone who went agree?

Yup would go with that. Smith brown was ok but looked a bit reluctant to go forward. Ibr very very good, napa equally. Rothwell ran his a**e off. Kane like to get forward great goal. Could have been more obika hit the cross bar. Napa got the post. All very good performances, mous at fault and probably the weak link but also made some important tackles first half

The left side of any team always seems to be the hardest to fill unless you've got silly money to spend. I think we are in a strong position now with ASB, Riccy and Ruffels and should use them to exploit the left flank. I'm sure Riccy at left mid could have a lot of opposition right backs on toast with his trickery. That was ASB's first game as it was Kane's and the team look so much more threatening.

That was an all time classic today.

Pace, grit, no strikers on the pitch , very decent opposition, never say die attitude, energy, defensive mistakes, fabulous support.

It had the works.

We had to move after the first half though. A group of foul mouthed neanderthals mercilessly slagged Mousinho from the kick off, abused Kane for being a ‘f ....g prick’ for just slightly misplacing a pass, called Obika ‘a sick note c...t’ for getting injured all in the first’20 minutes.

Worst offender a guy in his twenties with a straggly beard just to the right of the goal.

Sir ... you are a disgrace.

Ledson and Napa were magnificent. Well done Kane for making amends for his howler.

I'm on the P**s tonight. COYY.

I think my neighbours thought what the fu!k is going on around 4.50. Brilliant result and support. Stella flowing well here??.

Kane looked very good (apart from the mistake!). Just made you realise what we have missed. A proper right back with aggression and pace. Let’s hope Tiendalli is given a free transfer next week.....

Needs to be released from his contract

That was our best performance this season by miles
Charlton are a decent team, and we went at them for 90 minutes
Loads more energy and purpose. Made me realise how slow we were under Clotet
Can’t see us making the play offs, but I have no concerns about relegation after seeing that

On the train home. What a day.

Despite the negativity on here - and I really hope you didn't go to a match just to spend your time b*tching about the lack of change - the first half was better than we've seen for months. We looked stronger and more settled at the back and were settling into a groove going forward. Napa came on for Obika and we looked a little lost. Smith-Brown looked a little nervy to attack throughout but with game time I think he has the ability to push on.

Second half - I don't know what Faz said, but he knew how to exploit their team with Napa's pace and the technical ability we had at our disposal. Two individual mistakes again at the back cost us the goals. Mousinho needs resting, their first was shambolic, and Martin looks a little less reliable again. Still, positive attacking football with a youthful team that obviously had some pride.

Think some people on here need some perspective, today doesn't mean all our problems are fixed, but looked a hell of a lot better than the last 2 months and we hit the post twice! Almost as importantly, there was passion in the stands and on the pitch again.

Sorry for the rant, I'm off for a(nother) beer or two.

Today we saw something missing since the 88th minute against Fleetwood in November- a team performance !
