Ex Player Ryan Ledson

Gutted he’s gone. He always gave 100%. He’s not irreplaceable though and had his flaws. But I trust KR to put together a proper team for next season.

Being honest we’re not going to sell Ledson or Johnson to a prem club are we ? They just are not that standard of player. But they are in demand in the championship. And the kind of money is enough that the club can’t ignore. The important thing is to keep the model going. Unless we get a very rich backer that can pay the wages champ clubs are able to offer these players, then we can’t compete with teams like sheff Utd and Blackburn. And if we did and stood in the way of lego going or forced him to stay and lost him next summer for nothing, it’s not good for the club financially or in attracting others players that are looking for us to help develop them. If we were in the champ with a better quality of players we would still be in the same boat, but the players would be being sort after by prem clubs. It’s how football works and has always been the case here from Matty Elliot to John Aldridge. The only time it hasn’t, is when we literally had such s**t players that no one wanted them
Not to mention Roofe either, he ain’t doing too badly at a bang average club at that level (by management not size)

Be interested to know what he went for. £750k?

Ledson’s an unusual player - there aren’t many good young ball winners about these days. Reckon he will maybe develop into a Prem player one day - certainly a better prospect than Lundstram or the loathsome Johnson.

Also like Ledsons 100% attitude.

Overall its more important to OUFC that Eastwood signed up for three years in my view.

That’s the model. Most clubs at this level are exactly the same, or they don’t have decent players to sell so are worse off. I’d rather we were bringing in players like roofe and lego, enjoy watching them and sell at a profit. Than be an average side signing rubbish journeymen that are not good enough that anyone wants to take them off our hands. Dave kitson anyone ?? It’s where we’re at as a club, if we can get away with only losing 1/2 a summer and keep bringing in replacements like branagan and dickie , were still in a great position. If we get promoted, then we are suddenly in a great position to keep players like lego for longer.
I thought Kitson was excellent. Stood out a country mile. But eh, he should.

£800k according to PNE's forum.

I don't consider Ledson to be quite at their level just yet - a Championship club who finished just outside the playoffs and will be pushing for promotion to the Premier League next season - but he definitely has that potential. I just hope they give him time to develop and have a little patience (both fans and club). They aren't buying a complete player, but they are buying one with huge potential and a fantastic attitude.

Wish him all the best. Cheers Lego.

Shame, thought Robbo could have developed his game further.
800k (if figure accurate) apparently met the clubs asking price and he wanted a move upwards.
Hopefully see him one day in an England shirt.
Good luck Lego, I for one will be following your progress.

I wonder as to which of our best ever players from the past, would be able to consistently play in the Premier league today ?
I would imagine with all the overseas players in there now, it is would be so difficult.

Opinions as to who could :- Magilton, Saunders, Houghton, Hamilton, Windass, Aldridge and Beauchamps.

Feel free to add or subtract,

Edit - took out question mark (?) and replaced with could.

We already have one ex North Ender on the plane to Russia. I can’t see why he won’t develop into a class player

Preston have behaved impeccably throughout the process; once there was interest we told them a price and they matched it.
Quote from Karl Robinson in the Oxford Mail.

I said from the start, if the deal happened it would be for an undisclosed fee. That’s annoying for both sets of fans. I sincerely hope that the money received assists Oxford to bring in suitable replacements and that it doesn’t find its way into the pocket of the previous owner.

All of those who played in the top flight as they played in PL equivalent otherwise it would be saying everybody who played then couldn't now.

Phil Gilchrist and Matty Elliott without doubt as they played in the PL and are better defenders than a lot of those now.

Decent of you. The fact is that every bit of transfer income will find it's way into Eel's pocket as part of the £4.2m that's owed as part of the purchase price.

I guess the best we can hope is that the cash for the 4 named players comes in fast and that the Ledson payment ends up being additional to the 4.2m and thus available to be spent. Every little helps. In a minute Dave T will come along and talk about the Tiger's funding activities so far; he's not wrong but we don't know how deep the bow-tied one's pockets are......

If Kitson was excellent then you must of run out of superlatives once you got to players who actually tried.

Who wouldn’t want a player that thought he’s bigger than the club, who dictated what position he played in. Who tells the manager he’s not training as many days of the week as the rest of the team, who deliberately gets sent off to get a holiday. Who try’s to turn youth players against the club. Excellent

Yes: he was a complete kn*b.

Glad it got done and signed off by the specialists in the end. Was pretty much in everyone's interests to get it done rather than it dragging out.

Were a few rumours at our end about possible interest in Joe Rothwell too but if true I suspect it would depend on whether a couple of our current midfielders sign new deals or not.
