General New Stadium Plans - The Triangle - Land Deal

“Going to market” commonly refers to equity being raised by sale of shares, rather than simply securing a bank loan.

Oxford United was never going to own the stadium itself per se, but it was always stated that the current owners would fund the move themselves and subsequently tie the club to the stadium. If who exactly is paying for the stadium has changed in any way, particularly if a fair chunk of the finance might be sourced via the open market, that’s quite significant.

We need to know how much money the owners and directors will be putting into the build themselves, how much will therefore be sourced at market and via what methods, and broadly what the terms of any ROI are to investors. We also need to understand if there are changes to the club’s terms as a result, specifically in terms of revenue streams relating to the development.
Is “going to market“ now a worrying development re the potential funding of the stadium, or seen as a better way forward rather than the owners funding it all directly?

I have no idea, but am surprised that this has now seemingly come out of the blue, unless it was the aim and plan all along?

Is Colin or anyone else able to comment on this and give any reassurance or otherwise about this at all? Personally I’m a little more nervous and apprehensive than before this came to light.

On the face if it we seem to have gone from Billionaire owners prepared to invest their own cash to going to market to raise funds, which will need to be serviced or potentially involve share/board changes.

Hopefully those more closely aligned with what’s happening behind the scenes will be able to provide enough reassurance soon enough without breaching any confidentiality.

But until the situation is clarified, I think it’s reasonable to air a level of concern over this new information.

Tim Davies (Finance guy), touched on this in the 5min forum he did a while back.

So
I don't see the relevance of some of these groups are being considered stakeholders. Harbord Road is 1.1 miles away from the triangle, is a residential area that already has residents permit parking scheme enforced on them. Traffic going past the end of their street may well be busier for a couple hours every fortnight or so.

The Dew Drop, central Summertown, is 2 miles from the triangle.

Wolvercote Primary School, pretty central in Wolvercote, is 1.7 miles from the triangle.

I'm a Cowley man, 1.8 miles from The Kassam Stadium. I wasn't consulted when The Kassam Stadium was proposed.

Its because they're predominantly middle class areas isn't it?

So they are called Friends of Stratfield brake and the triangle now…imagine if we move the site again..will they keep adding more sites onto their name?

That was certainly the explanation given when the owners were planning on funding it all themselves, but if they’re now going to the markets to raise funds, any investors could form part of the ownership.

There has never been mention until yesterday of anybody outside of the current owners, shareholders and directors funding the stadium build. This is the first we’ve heard of any sort of seeding or raising of capital from external sources.

Clarification is needed. It’s important that we know who is paying for the stadium and where the funding is coming from.
Is anyone aware on how our owners have funded the stadiums they have built in the past?
I would imagine they have developed a formula for building stadiums which would include funding, so would likely be a good indicator to how they plan to fund the Triangle.
It would also be useful to know who now owns these stadiums now they’re finished, and how those clubs have faired since completion.

See our freind ( NOT) !! Having her 10 pence worth
