Away Match Day Thread +++6/04/2019 Walsall v OUFC match day thread+++

6 months ago I'd have been fuming about the red cards because we were in a horrific state and we could barely select an 18. Now though it doesn't bother me when you see that our captain and one of two of the best wingers in the league will come in next week to replace Kashi and Browne after being stuck on the bench.
Yes our squad is far stronger now. That is a very decent bench when Graham can't even get on the pitch.
It will be interesting to see whether the young players get many minutes.
James, Lofthouse, Jones, Smith, Little?

It’ll be interesting to see if Carruthers gets any game time between now and the end of the season or whether Robinson’s decides to give the younger players a chance. If Carruthers does play it might hint that he hasn’t been totally written off with regards to a return next season. I personally can’t see that happening though.

Which would be interesting given KR's eulogy about him at the start of the season

To be blunt, Browne's red card looked harsh but it was a stupid challenge which allowed the Ref the opportunity to make the decision - he has been a little disappointing for a while now and we have adequate cover too

Kashi's second yellow was technically right but gave no consideration for the joy of the moment - Sinclair took the right approach to his inevitable yellow by a simple shrug at the ref - "whateva"

I feel a bit sorry for him. A bad injury in the first game of the season and he’s never got going again. Rotten luck. As you say Robinson was very complimentary at the start of the season so might give him another chance

A return after each club's fixture will help this no end. That's if you actually want people to read it
And if you wanted people to think your posts were worth reading you could have edited in the returns in your quoted post, rather than bizarrely sniping at a useful post!

Agree entirely - although we haven't seen much of him, he clearly has some class and might be worth pursuing if he can stay injury free

Wasnt aware on the yellow card rule for running on the pitch and celebrating. Is it a rule that has just been implemented this season? As last season at Charlton a few subs ran onto the pitch to celebrate the Ledson winner and I cant recall any of them getting carded.

Am i the only one that thinks graham has been pretty average the past month or so. He is skillful but has no pace. His crossing and shooting (except blackpool free kick obviously) has been average and he doesnt add much defensively. I think LG has been more effective as a wide midfielder offensively and fefensively and i dont think he is as dangerous as whyte.

I know Robinson touts Carruthers as an excellent player - but the few times I've seen him I haven't seen what the fuss is about. I'd prefer to stick with Baptiste, Brannagan and Henry plus developing Sykes, Napa etc. I agree that he was unlucky to get injured, but any money we do have would be better off spent in other areas. Browne hasn't shown that much for a while now - I would thank him for his efforts and not pursue him further.

I actually agree with you. My response was based on the wider context of his usual style of posts, but in this case, I agree, I was unfair.
fair enough for backtracking. I still think to say he often whines (assuming this is what you mean) is harsh, he does sometimes have a more negative opinion than you, but still I think its harsh to say he often whines, i guess we agree to disagree

Yes. Napa despite his diminutive stature has been around long enough and must surely be up to something. I'd hope he'd be a major part of our squad next year, although I don't quite know in what role. Baptiste will be a massive inclusion, already showing signs of being an extremely competent Division 3 player at the grand old age of 20.

Browne's looking rather truculent of late, isn't he? Chances are he'll be on loan in Division 2 next year and probably play a similar bit part role at a club such as Millwall. He doesn't look anywhere close to West Ham's bench at present.

Yes.

Just back. Fantastic result, and turn around in play in the second half. The away fans were immense as usual. The only unfortunate blip was the Oxford fan taken out by 3 coppers for going on the pitch, I don't think it was deliberate.
The loan players celebrated as much as anyone. Now the team is a unit, just unfortunate that again at the end of another season , the team will be broken up.
I would have thought Kashi, Garbett and Sinclair might be possible for extended loans. Browne will go back to W.Ham, Nelson will be gone and after his less than enthusiastic interview with the Mail last week about staying so will Graham. This, after the gushing introduction he presented when he first came back about the fans and love for the club.

One thing on Jordan Graham. He has shown the love for the club through his performances on the pitch. He has contributed to our run of form since joining which is why we signed him after all. He obviously has a belief he has a chance of getting a Championship club so a bit unfair to criticise him for the interview.

Tbf, he talked about only focusing on playing this season after not playing before and injury. So probably hasn't given any thought personally to next season when he is under contract anyway. Seems reasonable to me in the circumstances.

He may also not know what Wolves want to do even if loaning him out. I don't think he'll be here next season but it won't have anything to do with his feelings for the club.

Thanks for that. Funny really because I can’t find the person moaning about my post, because ironically it will be one of the old school stiffs I ignored a long time ago. The kind of idiot that waits to pounce on anything I post. Maybe if they got off their backsides and made the effort to get to away games then they could make an informed comment, rather than simply posting their usual drivel.

Funny how they haven’t commented on my last post, when I got home. Doesn’t fit their miserable agenda.

He could have used his time to praise the fans instead maybe?
COYY!

Yeah, because you don't log out and look do you?

Ha ha ha!

I don't think that is how the football laws work. We ask for consistency and in this case the Ref is being consistent with the laws.

Nonetheless...it's the 87th minute of an English Division 3 game that matters to no more than 7000 people in the universe. I ask again - who actually complains if he uses his loaf and doesn't count beans? Do you think bigwigs at the FA are going to pore over the footage and give him a week off for his heinous misdemeanour if he doesn't book Kashi a second time?

Personally I don't ask for consistency above all - I ask for the refs to know their place in the game is not to be noticed.
