Arguably, it's two things: a) selling subscriptions and advertising, and b) filling schedule gaps for the PL trough. That's 3 things...
Although there were rumours on Twitter on Saturday that the MK Dons game was potentially being moved to the Tuesday so I suspect the club were contacted Friday 18th or Saturday 19th. Can’t remember who it was but someone had heard from one of the bars/restaurants at the Ozone or whatever it’s called next to the ground.4 weeks was Friday 18th March for the games that have been picked for TV (Good Friday matches - 15th April)
We're a knock-on effect of those picks being late.
Either way - the wording of the process is "Public notice"Although there were rumours on Twitter on Saturday that the MK Dons game was potentially being moved to the Tuesday so I suspect the club were contacted Friday 18th or Saturday 19th. I've heard that the very lovely and helpful ticket office staff are getting a lot of abuse over this fixture change. Please don't do that. Neither they nor anyone at the club chose to move the match. It's costing the club thousands in lost ticket revenue.
The EFL regulation 26.4 applies, with Thursday/Saturday being Saturday/Monday in our case.
26.3 However, where a Club is selected to play in a televised Match played under the auspices of The League on a Thursday evening, and that Club is also scheduled to play on the immediately following Saturday ('Saturday Match'), the Club shall have the right to request that The League reschedule the Saturday Match to the immediately following Sunday i.e. a 24 hour postponement. Approval for any such request shall not be unreasonably withheld or delayed.
We are writing to the EFL to lodge a complaint on behalf of our fans in respect of them missing their own deadline. We know they do it repeatedly but still feel we should be calling them out on it. If anyone wishes to lodge a personal complaint with them as well please do so.
So is it all down to MK? They are the Club in this situation, they can make the request to The League for a one day delay, and The League can't unreasonably say no.I've heard that the very lovely and helpful ticket office staff are getting a lot of abuse over this fixture change. What makes this whole debacle worse is I wonder how many people think great we can watch MK v Wednesday on TV on Easter Saturday evening - Not many, I can't see anyone benefitting from this, not even SKY, they are getting their subscriptions anyway.
And to add to the woes of the Wednesday fans:-
- If the game was on the Friday they could watch it on ifollow, but that option may be taken away from them for the SKY televised game.
- They are losing two, not one, 3pm KO's over Easter weekend, Friday & Monday, replaced by evening KOs on Sat & Tues. So 4 out of 5 days over Easter has totally changed for them.
My assumption is that they often choose EFL games where the away team has a big set of fans who are more likely to boost the TV figures.
The EPL don’t play fixtures on Good Fridays / Easter Monday. Also FA Cup weekend.
So that’s why Sky have picked EFL games more than usual.
Of course they do, it’s so they can seek a bigger crowd and sell advertising space more easily. Same reason Man U v random Championship Club is always a FA Cup pick.Yeah I just mean that when they do pick EFL games, they seem to choose games where the away team would have a big fanbase.

The original sentence proves the usefulness of the humble comma and the more exotic Oxford comma in written statements. All of this confusion could have been avoidedArguably, it's two things: a) selling subscriptions and advertising, and b) filling schedule gaps for the PL trough.

response from EFL arrivedI did yesterday ... no reply as yet
also I personally emailed Football Supporters Federation... no reply as yet
response from EFL arrived
IMO its a' polite' interpretation of the words to the song that goes ' my old man said be a sw*nd*n fan, I said.....
EFL - response to my email complaint :-
Thank you for your e-mail, we note your comments.
First of all, it is of course regrettable if a change in fixture schedule affects any supporters ability to attend a match.
Whilst we aim to confirm all TV selections as soon as possible, the announcement dates provided are illustrative and subject to change. There are a number of factors influencing when a final announcement can be made, including considerations to other competitions that are shown on Sky Sports also.
As you have now seen, all the TV selections for the Easter weekend have now been confirmed, as per the article released on our website yesterday, which you can view here.
Thank you for contacting the EFL and your comments have been passed onto the relevant team for their information.
Thank you for contacting the EFL.
