Transfer News 2022/23 Season Incoming Transfers and a few other things

I wrote this a week or 2 back and still pretty much stands so hope it can ease a few minds of those who have concerns about our incomings...

A Wow signing was mentioned to me just over 2 weeks ago, I checked last evening and the thought is the player is very keen but 2 other clubs have made moves in the last few days. I am not mentioning any names or details other than said player is of a very high standard. Source:::: Someone on the books of another club.

There was also apparently an enquiry made from a Championship club regarding one of ours that would involve one of theirs coming our way (thougt theirs would only be a loan) Our trusted ITK's on here will perhaps be aware of this and it's being kept out of the public domain for now.

Sadly in one respect the latter was spot on (though no loan as of yet)

It's not exactly conclusive TBH. We need names and mad rumours, or we'll have to just get on with our work.

Why would we need to sign 4 centre backs for Mous to be 6th choice? The pecking order is quite clear if you think about it:

Starting CBs - Elliott Moore and a new signing (looking like Stuart Findlay)
3rd choice - Ciaron Brown
4th choice - Sam Long
5th choice - James Golding
6th choice - Mous

And that's assuming we don't sign 2 CBs, or another fullback who can play CB.

Anyway, once we've signed Findlay, Centre back isn't the issue. Fullback is more pressing IMO. I'm still hoping we will be rotating systems between 4 and 3 at the back to accommodate the likes of the Cadden brothers. And Still, we'd have enough Centre Backs.

Back Four:
Findlay Moore - backup from - Brown, Golding and Mous'
Back Three:
Brown Findlay Moore, backup from Long, Golding and Mous'

Both new players as full/wing backs. Backup on the right from Long and Forde. Backup on the left from Seddon and Brown.

With the greatest of respect the way football is i don't think anyone can offer guarantees and in certain cases names would not be forthcoming / able to be mentioned for varying reasons.

it's rather like the 2 horses i put on here Ascot week, there can be no Guarantees of success, some work out others don't.
 
An offer has been made to sign a young Tottenham Hotspur forward I've heard. MK Dons have also made an inquiry about the same player.

This limits the number of countries where we are looking at quite significantly, and most likely points to the MLS. I actually made a post yesterday breaking down the 5 most likely people we'd be looking at in the MLS:

Stuart Findlay - Linked several times before, fee has been an issue in the past, but only made 1 appearance in 2022 and 7 in 2021. I imagine Philadelphia would want to recoup their fee so 250-300k would probably be enough to get him. Only thing that makes me hesitant (and hence maybe KR too) is he's turned us down before.

Danny Wilson - Another we've been linked with before, left sided and left footed, but spent the last 4 years in the MLS and has been playing a decent amount so may not want to move if he's settled.

Jack Elliott - A left field shout if I'm honest. English, but spent his entire career in the US. He's the man currently keeping Findlay out of the Philadelphia starting 11. Potentially both out of our price range and unlikely to suddenly move to English football but you never know.

Derrick Williams - Left footed CB who can also play LB, 3 appearances for Republic of Ireland. Good experience in England, 132 L1 appearances and 117 Championship appearances with Blackburn and Bristol City. Contract expires December this year so LA Galaxy may be willing to offload to get a fee (although they have a year option). Would be quite the signing, but a bit like Elliott may be a bit too pricey.

Anton Walkes - A really flexible player who can play CB, LB, RB and CDM. Made 66 appearances for Pompey in L1 between 17/18 and 19/20. Only recently moved to Charlotte but not out of the realm of possibility if he wants a move back to England.

The only reason I say looking like Findlay is because of the 5 (and also looking at players in other leagues who have yet to open their window) he seems the most likely. We've looked at him several times before, he's a quality, experienced left centre back, and he would be available for a fee that is well within our budget. It may not be him - it's not a "someone told me we're signing Findlay" thing, just a logical process of elimination that leads me to think he's the most likely.

Suspect this is the Dane Scarlett rumour isn’t it? Unless you’ve specifically heard whether it’s loan/permanent?
