How can you say that when not one of us have seen him kick a ball in earnest. To be honest I don't think there's many that could come in that we would immediately declare as the 'ideal replacement' - he's been the heartbeat of the team for years. Camara was exceptional and I'd take him all day but, again, why's he still at Plymouth? Something is amiss.

You may be proven right and I'm not bashing your view, I would just keep an open mind. This is a real sucker punch for our club but it is not the end of our season, particularly with 34 days of the window to go. We've got the money and board no longer afraid to use it. We have a very good recruitment record and recent signings suggest we know what we have to do now so just have a little faith, everybody.

I shouldn't have to qualify it with the usual disclaimers - of course there is a chance that we sign a Lewis Bate type and he comes in and hits the ground running, driving the team forward, bossing the midfield and effectively replacing Cam Bran. But what are the chances? Really?

I don't think it is in any way unreasonable to suggest that a replacement for Cam needs to be a proven absolute quality addition at this level. He is the absolute heartbeat of this team. To expect a young kid starting out in pro football to replace that is utterly foolish.

Why is Panutche still at Plymouth? He's in contract. Yesterday you could ask why is Cam Bran still at Oxford? Nothing 'amiss' - maybe no massive bids have come in for him? Maybe he plans to run down his contract and get the big signing on fees next year instead? As I say, no different to Cam Bran situation and there was nothing 'amiss' there.

Of course I have an open mind, but we're not looking to replace McNally with a month to go before the start of the season.
We're needing to replace our best player just two days before we kick off.

I think one or two need to appreciate the gravity of the situation.

Seen a couple of Blackpool fans say Thorniley could be part of the deal as well. Think that would be very astute if we can get him as part of the deal which means we could revert to the 3-4-1-2/3-5-2 we played towards the end of last season. Would give us 3 quality Cb’s & brown as a back up
I prefer Brown to Thorniley but the point still stands.

They are paying good money at the moment desperate to get out of non Lge. Astute business giving forde a new contract, so we had more leverage.

Congratulations to CamBran. Excellent servant and professional and he’ll light up the championship. If Rothwell can flourish so much that Blackburn can’t hold onto him, he certainly can.

I confess I didn’t except a window where Sykes, Bran and McNally all left. That’s pretty much every asset we had at the end of last season. Plus Williams, Kane, Holland leaving it’s left lots of work to do.

We’ve made a couple of good signings and two that I’d say are “wait and see”, but the squad now looks rather imbalanced.

Lots of work to be done. There is time to get it done and we’ve clearly got big budget and a history of finding decent talent. But the clock is ticking and we are entering a league one that looks very competitive.

That competitiveness appears to be making it harder for our recruitment team so we may need to cut them some slack.

Probably important for this message board to remember Derby is just one game. There seems to be a huge focus on it. It won’t define our season.

The positive bus seems to be in for repairs!

I’m hearing the big end has gone, and the mechanic is tapping the engine with his pencil whilst taking a sharp intake of breath!

It’s not about points scoring, but the window has been poor right from the get go.

From Blackpool end..

Brannagan deal will be a club record meaning it will be £1.3 million plus potentially up to £1.5 million.

They’re expecting to announce Brannagan by this weekend in a double deal with Wolves winger Corbeanu on a season long loan.

Assuming Brannagan is gone, we haven’t even replaced Kane yet? We should in all honesty have had another quality midfielder in already to replace Kane, and especially given CB didn’t sign a new contract it was inevitable he may go. Unfortunately we now need 2 midfield signings who are ready to go and not weeks away from fitness! Not being negative at all, but we should have got one new quality CM in weeks ago, that’s not in hindsight but an obvious area we needed to address.

I’m surprised a bigger club than Blackpool haven’t come in for CB tho I have to say?

Be interesting to know the contract offer he turned down from us as well, compared to what he may now get.

Not worried about Forde and the fact he signed new contract must mean we get a decent little fee? That’s good business from the club.

Definitely need some more much positive news now! Hope it arrives very soon.

I can’t believe that KR has not signed a midfielder in this transfer window knowing that there was a very good chance that he would be leaving.
But you can't sign players on the off chance that one of your established players might leave.

If we get a "like for like" replacement through the doors pdq, it shows we were fully aware of the impeding offer - if not then we can safely assume it came somewhat out of the blue (unless you prescribe to the view that the club is run like some kind of Sunday morning pub team).

It has really stumped us for Saturday. Was shaping up for a 4231 with McGuane and Cam bringing tonnes of energy in the two. Was looking forward to them swarming over their big bucks midfield actually.

Now what? Henry and Gorrin aren’t really mobile enough for that system so either way, moves everyone back. Or we go to a 3 and Bodin’s maybe benched.

I know it’s just one game, but it shows how vital it is that we replace Brannagan like for like.

I think you have to go 4-3-3 now, especially with the Dutch winger out as well.

With the players who have left and injuries we are weaker, at this moment in time, than we were last season (at our peak, obviously not when we had no players and Hanson had to play) but obviously we have time to change that.

It’s just really annoying it’s happening right at this moment, would of been better a couple of weeks ago.
