Transfer News 2022/23 Season Incoming Transfers and a few other things

I think some of the comments on here and twitter are a tad OTT with regards to Brannagan leaving.

We’ve had numerous players leave who had arguably higher levels of ability than Cam and we replaced them, and the club has continued to flourish.

I’m not for a second suggesting Cam won’t be missed, he will! However, he’s certainly not irreplaceable and the club isn’t going to implode because he’s going to the championship.

Lundstrum, Rothwell (free?) and Ledson are three midfielders that I can think of off the top of my head that represnt examples of players we have sold and replaced.

Emphasis now is on KR and the fabled recruitment team to get the next month, right. If they get it wrong and we are languishing come Christmas then I fully expect the axe to be wielded in Robinson’s direction.

NB: Forde leaving is a shame. He was an excellent squad player and covered a number of positions. He was a bloody good pro. He too will need to be adequately replaced with a suitably versatile squad member.

I'm perfectly level headed and pragmatic about the things the manager, players or club do, and will always shower them with praise when it's appropriate, but will also not shy away from criticising them when it's equally appropriate.

It's called having a balanced perspective, and not just praising the club blindly, and then blindly justifying every mistake, and shooting down those who understandably criticise and voice their concerns.

But this window has not gone well, we are 2 days away from the start of the season, and our squad is horribly short in multiple key areas, meaning even if we make some great signings between now and the end of the window, we've left ourselves too much to do at this stage, and our start to the season is going to be severely hindered, AGAIN.

With the exception of Brown (a squad player) and Findlay, all the other players we have brought in, although talented players, are either crocks, injury prone and already injured, returning from major injuries, or by their own admission, not match fit, so anyone who thinks this window up to now been a success, is deluded.

Also, KR usually flogs the players half to death in preseason, so there's the usual inevitable injury crisis in the first month or two to deal with as well!
Pragmatic and level headed yet anyone that opposes your view on the transfer window is deluded? Nice one

In response to the accusation that we should have had someone lined up and ready what calibre of player would have been willing to come in to play 2nd fiddle if Cam had stayed on?
At least now we can say to potential replacements that they will be very likely to play if fit and in form
I'm sorry, but any player worth his salt would/should have no problem joining a team to compete with good players for a starting spot, it's what makes good players better players, and the genuine competition for places creates winning teams.

As I said, I'm not saying in anyway that Kane is the answer. Just making the point that a player missing the first few games isn't ideal, but it's better than having a gap until January.
Kane is 5-6 weeks out, then needs to do another preseason, and also hope the groin problem doesn’t return!

We have huge money avaliable now, why would we expect to have any gaps until January?

We have the best opening 7/8 games we’ve had in years and need to make the most of it, I’m very worried we’re now not in a position to potentially do that!

That be the one that many on here never gave a shi* about until now of course
Not true, many people often questioned why Forde was so under used by Robbo, and why he was constantly left on the bench, when his versatility in the 2nd half of the season would've been a real benefit to the team.

It seemed to be the manager who was the only one who didn't give a s**t about him.

yeah having to sell better players every season to remain sustainable, losing a top player 2 days before season starts whilst all the time playing very attractive football and flirting with promotion yet you think the axe is hovering.

Meanwhile you think comments about cam leaving are ott

What makes you so sure we don't know who we want?!
Because from what we've gathered from Robinson and ITK users on here, the position wasn't being actively targeted and if it was, we would've already made moves in anticipation or outright cover. I have no doubts we can replace him and will sign someone in that space but this could've been explored weeks ago and even in the last window. Despite the Brannagan contract situation, I don't think anyone saw his departure happening this window and it's not a position we've been targeting for this reason. You can see the surprise and slight panic we are now in.

I’ve held off on being too critical of this transfer window so far but with it seemingly obvious that we are going to be heading into derby with no further additions, I just want to say that I think the summer has been an embarrassment for the club.
Slow to start our transfer business, seemingly not prepared for out goings, think all of us as fans could have predicted interest in McNally & Brannagan, and most importantly we have so far failed to address the problems we suffered from last year.
Talk of being acting like a top 30 clubs is farcical.
Yes there is time to rectify this but we will once again be playing catch up with everyone else.
Worried for Saturday, not even sure what system we are gonna play now as we barely have a central midfield and if we risk Gorrin, that could back fire in the long run. An injury to any of our back line during the game and we have no replacements, same goes for the forward.
The window has been a disaster and a lot of work is need in a very short amount of time to fix it, even if this work is done, we will still be on the back foot due to the weakened team that will be available for the first few games and top it all off the communication out of the club (when we do actually get any) is message of promotion push but so far I am struggling to believe we will be anywhere close to promotion.

Who didn’t get a game last season, when we failed to go up. What suddenly makes him essential to our plans?
Never said essential, but he's a very good player to have in the squad, as he was a solid performer, who never let us down, whenever and wherever he played, and there were a number games last season that were calling out for a player with his qualities.

The fact he didn't get a game doesn't mean he wasn't good enough, it means the managers tactics weren't good enough.

What’s your point? I’m sharing murmurings from within... If you’d prefer not to read my ramblings please feel free to hit ignore.

Dear me how many times, Name the player hat will wait around refusing other offers in case cam moves...

Available targets can now be approached but not before an event that may not happen
