General Consortium Takeover - News and Rumours

A very positive day. A proper structure. Serious businessmen and a new CEO who will be results focused. Karl will be a nervous man tonight after his transfer window carnage.

Glad Niall still actively involved seems to be doing a very decent job on the stadium side.

There. A positive post from me :)

I thought Robinson looked relaxed and comfortable in the presence of the new chairman and owner. He talked about the management team being in for the long haul and he obviously sees himself part of that.

Cheers Si.

It's very tempting to post more sometimes, but you know as well as I do, that confidential means confidential. I usually only try to right any wrong rumours or gossip, and sometimes have to be very very careful with the exact words I choose. I'm not looking for plaudits, but it annoys me when unsubstantiated nonsense gets posted, repeated, and then accepted as fact, so I'm pleased that people appreciate my input.

This announcement today will, in my opinion, be the start of our new future, with much more good news to come, in the next few weeks and months.
Colin
Thank you for what information you gave us in the past. I admit I was a doubter when I first heard about the new board coming in but you certainly made me feel more confident about the way forward especially when you could only say so much.
One more question for you. You alluded that all was not right in the marketing and promotional side of things around the launch of the season ticket campaign.
Do you think that the new set up will tackle these issues and will they also bring in a D of F?
Will understand if you can’t be too specific

Also, I'm a little in the know here Kip, they're going to try and get a KFC franchise approved for the new stadium too πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

Given that the head of Marketing has gone, I think it would be fair to say that quite a few changes will follow.

They could make a start by acknowledging that we have a P J Trophy game on coming Tuesday and maybe, just maybe try and flog a few tickets. So far there has been no publicity at all, not even an announcement that tickets are on sale. (and, I might add, that the SSU (west) is open this time.

Thanks for the kind words.

I think they'll look at all aspects of the running of the club. These are serious guys, no point doing all of this otherwise.

I think the takeover has taken so long to be completed that the gravitas of it has been lost a little. This is a huge moment for our club. Most clubs dream of being taken over by Billionaires but it's a reality for us now. This COULD be the start of an incredible journey.

Thought as much hope they will bring their business expertise into the day to day running of the club

Just saying............
I heard yesterday and even though it was announced today it’s only been 9 days and not the months gone by where people have said it’s already happened.
Tbf @Colin B all o wanted to know was if the takeover had happened and peope said it had when in fact it hadn’t until 9 days ago.
But as I said at the start I heard yesterday evening.
But thanks anyway @Colin B πŸ‘

Thank goodness the headteacher / Peaky Blinder has been shuffled to the side, so some serious operators can get hold of the commercial side of the club.

I think that's incredibly dismissive and naive to talk in that way about Niall McW. He's done a relatively good job of taking on full time hours on a part time salary, balancing other full time jobs in the schools he's been working in. He's been the driving force in getting the stadium stuff underway and none of this has been made easier by the internal structure of the club. To say he isn't a serious operator shows you really have no understanding of what's been achieved by him in the grand scheme of things.

He has done the best anyone could expect under the circumstances and has rightly retained an important role at the club as well as being able to devote more time to the stadium project.

Edit: Scheme* not scale, autocorrect.

I didn't know that a) he was still working in schools and b) he was in a full time job with us on part time pay. If that's the case, fair play to Niall McW but it does show that the club needs to change and become much more professional if we're to progress.

The fact that he's been given a new role is probably a relief to him and shows the new owners respect him and have plans for his old role to be managed properly going forward.

Even if KR is kicked out, we are still left with a load of cripples who are supposed to be coming back shortly, not match fit. So far we have struggled against teams currently around the bottom of the lleague, look at the up and coming fixtures, Charlton, Pompey and Exeter away for example, Wycombe next at home and we all know how they play. Dont want to sound all doom and gloom but it doesnt look good

I'm far from being an expert, but has the crashing pound contributed to this deal being done now I wonder. If so every cloud does have a silver lining!

That's why Karl not going anywhere yet. Let Karl take charge of the next few games where we ultimately will end up in the bottom 4 so the board won't take much backlash from the whole fanbase when they do sack him in November. Then that gives the new man a few weeks to plan for the january transfer window and doesn't come in at a time when we have an awful run of fixtures like we do in October.
