New Stadium Plans - The Triangle - Planning

I plan to do the same with the Lib Dems as well. Cllr Miller's finger wagging comments were very poor.

If the prospective candidates take the time to read the comments on the planning application they will realise there is overwhelming support from Cherwell residents, it would be foolish to ignore these constituents and their families.

When Chester starts his political campaign in a few months time he will also be making commitments such as improving the local services just like Oufc he can't promise that until he is in office like Oufc can't fully commit until planning is granted and occ sign the release of the land
He will be lucky to remain in post.

If Miller wants to win his seat, he should look at the people who have commented on the CDC portal. So many from Bicester. No hope of winning if he doesn’t get support in that battleground

I think he is overestimating how many votes standing against will win him, it’s a few nimbys in kidlington, they will be countered by our fans, he is risking looking anti progress for at the very least no net gain.

Most of his constituents won’t have a horse in the race, but if it goes out that he is risking people’s jobs, a business going under, looking like he doesn’t want investment etc that’s not a good look. He really isn’t going to gain a lot of votes for the potential bad publicity.

I post this because although it is about housing it does sum up the "I'm alright Jack" approach of so many of those complaining.

The development of a little piece of useless and unused land for the survival of a huge community institution that employees hundreds and brings pleasure to thousands trumps the need for someone to not even be able to walk their dog.

We are so lucky in Oxfordshire in that we are only ever a good walk or a short drive away from beautiful, publicly accessible, countryside. The environment is hugely important, but so is the need to support future generations with housing, employment opportunities and leisure facilities.

This stadium project gives all of that whilst also opening up the site and this small part of the countryside to the public and improving the biodiversity at the same time.

It's win-win-win and the only objections are from the "I'm alright Jacks" who oppose everything.

Just in case your going to Sainsbury's bloody nightmare cash only bloody football hooligans

Sadly, it is a fact of life that prospective candidates looking for election can promise whatever the hell they like. After being elected, if they get that far, can then backtrack under all manner of excuses and get away with it. Of course, if they don't get elected, they can still claim whatever they like with impunity. It's all a game.

I will also be making sure that any other local Green Party members or activists are fully aware that Middleton is the reason that myself and my family will not be voting Green, despite having done so in the past.
maybe write to/email the Oxfordshire Green Party and National Green Party let them know too

And I suspect it will get lots of publicity from OUFC fans that he is against throughout the whole campaign.

Something I have noticed on nextdoor which is being backed up with the support comments in the planning portal.
More local people although they are not commenting on threads are liking posts about positive stadium news and also any anti fosb thread, I think the tide is starting to turn and people are warming to the idea of the stadium

Most of the objections are about extra traffic and lack of parking.

Few crazy ones like .

claiming there will be 582 events at full capacity per year = (the club bloody wish)

The club don't have to move they can just pay Kassam more rent to stay. = Covenant on kassam land ends in October 2026 and then he can build whatever profits him most, (leasing to us won't gain him most income)

No public transport near the stadium = only the train station and busses running down the Oxford road right outside.

Stadium is too tall and nothing as tall has ever been present in that area = what about the silo that was over the road that was taller.

Land is a wild haven and has been for 40 + years = what about when it was a Motorcross track in the late 90's?

We just need to keep putting supporting comments and get as many people to do this.

Ive asked some non footballing supporting acquaintances to send in supportive comments this very morning- fingers crossed they'll oblige over the weekend

Don't forget "Oxford United made themselves homeless"

Lots of competition, but isn't this one of the most ridiculous comments?
Unbelievably daft.

I read one from a resident of the moors claiming neighbours will rent out their driveways to fans 😂.

Lets not forget the moors is nearly 2 miles from the stadium . The same distance as the centre of Summertown is from the stadium.
