New Stadium Plans - The Triangle - Planning

It does look stunning I have to say. I was hoping it wouldn’t have that soulless bowl look about it and it’s fair to say the design is more characterful than that. Is this the genuine design or more an indication of what it could look like ?

I notice the club say there is no option (thank God) to extend our stay at the Kassam beyond the expiry of our current deal in 2026. Out of curiosity, why is that though ? I find it odd that Kassam aren’t encouraging us to sign again, it seems very short sighted of them to build a stadium and pull it down 25 years later.

This must be some sort of time scale record for a club to have three permanent homes in the space of 25 years. I cannot think of any club, in the UK and maybe beyond, who have done similar. People might point to Brighton and the Withdean but that was always just temporary and nothing like the quarter of century the Kassam has been our home.

The Kassam Stadium has been earmarked for housing in Oxford City Council's plan.

Kassam has already started the process of redeveloping the Kassam Stadium complex with the application to redevelop the bingo hall going in months ago.

Feels like there'll be bulldozers awaiting the final whistle of the 2025/6 season.

Looking at the images, the south stand behind the goal looks to be bigger than the north stand. Would think this will be the new London Road/East stand with safe standing. Can stick the away fans on the long edge East stand maybe? Would be awesome to have home fans behind both goals.

Would having fans behind each goal effectively give us 2 London Roads (or "Kops", for lack of a better word)? Might this dilute the energy that comes from having a single unified chanting stand? Or would this spread the volume and open us up for a new back-and-forth "We're the North/South Stand! We're the North/South Stand! We're the North/South Stand Oxford Road!" chant?

You’d prefer an empty end again?

😉

On a separate note, looking at the new entrance arch in the design... what actually happened to the old London Road one after the ground got disassembled?

The man is an idiot....what land mark was he expecting ?

The row of quaint Kidlington village, Cotswold stone, chocolate box cottages with rambling roses growing round the front door.

The Chinese tourists come in their droves to see them, and now the beastly football stadium blocks their light.

The rendering does seem to suggest traffic going down the roads either side of the ground during play. Is this a mistake by the graphics team, or does that mean the Oxford Road would be open once the match is underway?

Good job they’ve got no say or rights about this land then ain’t it. Probably that donut Robey chatting s**t again
I just listened to the interview with David Robey on RadOx.
He was considered and everything he said was reasonable and not at all contentious.
KPC will of course continue to question transport to and from the stadium, parking, possible road closure etc- but so would every other PC in the UK.
All should hopefully be answered/satisfied during the planning process .

I was very fortunate in being invited to attend a preview reception for the public engagement events to follow.

All I can say is WOW! The designs are incredible and it already feels more like home than the Kassam ever did. It is a thing of beauty inside and out, and there are no shortcuts or half measures involved in this. One example is that there will be a sensory room for children who are neurodiverse, but rather than being hidden under the stand this will have a view of the pitch but with soundproofing for those that find the noise overwhelming.

But what was even more impressive was the people involved. I spoke with the architect, someone from Fabrik who are responsible for the landscape design, the team behind the transport plans, and those who have helped put these engagement events together. They are all really impressive people and you already get the feeling that this is more than just another project for them. They were just as excited about showing off their work as I was to see it, and they all spoke with genuine passion for what is to come.

Tim Williams was also there are spoke very well about the stadium project but also why it is essential that the club is protected through this so that we never again face the same situation as we have with Kassam. Niall McWilliams was there and whilst I didn't get to speak to him for long, it is clear that he lives and breathes this project and deserves huge credit for getting is this far. I also spoke with Mick (fax machine) Brown and it was great to see someone who has been involved with our club for 50 years beaming with excitement about the stadium, especially as he is a Kidlington lad. If Niall is the man that gets us into the new stadium, then Mick is the man who pretty much kept the club alive long enough for this to happen!

There were also a number of local councillors there for OCC, CDC and parish councils, and also the miserable looking Ms McIvor. Sadly she left before I had to opportunity to have a chat!! I did speak with some of the councillors, and whilst a few still had reservations it felt like others were more understanding. Nigel Simpson is a councillor that has been very supportive, and he and his family are season ticket holders. He's a great ally, and he's not alone. He was describing how both Tories and Labour are supportive in principle. He's also not a huge fan of Mr Middleton!!!

If you get the opportunity then please get yourselves along to the engagement events, and make sure you share your views too. This is now feeling very real, but we all still have a huge role to play in getting this to planning. Now is our time to Stand United.

Will fans be sent a copy of that flyer/brochure? Or will we have to go to the exhibition to get one?

Biggest question I have on all this new stadium stuff is... the cost is "over £100m"... how is it being paid for? who is paying for it?

I don't know how much has been discussed about getting fans from the station to the stadium, but I'm a little worried that this may be a significant stumbling block.
I heard road closure before and after the game.... That isn't going to please the locals.
A bridge a bit complicated and not big enough for the fans arriving and especially leaving.
An underpass... Sounds expensive to me.
Yes I'm abit concerned, I hope OUFC has it worked out.
