Home Match Day Thread +++ 17/02/2018 OUFC v Plymouth Argyle match day thread +++

After today where i watched in horror (i let the missus tackle the garden centre Bob :)) i am certain we are going down.

We played ok. Better than recently yes. But when recently has been utter dog poop, today was an improvement ill admit.

But we still lost. The decision not to sign a striker in January was simply stunning. It showed again today.

DE has totally given up that much is clear. Theres simply no momentum around the club at all any more.

Love the optimism on here. However theres no justification for it. Were down.

You never fail to disappoint me Kip.

Mayday Mayday! We're in a death-spiral. Leadership has either been kicked out or deserted the ship. Our best hope to stave off relegation is that there are 4 worse teams out there.

Apart from the result, I enjoyed the game overall, 2nd half certainly.

Their goal should never have stood as the goalscorer pulled down Rob Dickie before his header. With a bit of luck we would have equalised or Obika actually heading it rather than using his shoulder!

After today’s much improved performance and desire, I would say there is some justification to believe we can avoid a dog fight going into the final few games of the season.

However, we’re not safe but we’re not down either so let’s not just throw in the towel.

It was very poor defending from Dickie, 50/50 on the tussle but Dickie had no intent on winning the ball as he had no idea where it was.

Eastwood at fault for goal though. Didn't know what to do he stays on his line and that's never a goal it was a crap header.

Graham Carey the dirtiest knob I've seen this season rolling around on the floor and then jumps back up as soon as it's given.

Party after the last game of the season if we go down then? Can imagine the small talk will be sensational. Is it BYOB?

I reckon Uwe Rosler would be good. Has previous experience at a higher level. I think he would do well at Oxford. Fleetwood loss could be our gain

Baffled as to why Thomas was not on bench today. We had 3 defenders 2 midfielders and 1 striker. Surely it should be 1 goalkeeper, 2 defenders,2 midfielders and 2 Strikers. Could've allowed a formation change later in the half aswell.

Mowatt disappointing today, in my opinion. His corners were far to near to the keeper and got shrugged of the ball time and time again, was hoping he'd ne a creative outlet today but he just went for the short simple passes and didn't look to open up the defense like a centre midfielder should.

I am gutted we lost that game. On the strength of that performance I have no doubts we will stay up. Those were not players who have given up or are low on confidence. The question is can they reproduce it?

As for Plymouth.... Wow. Maybe they had an off day or we were good but I have no idea how that team is on such a good run. Okay, we did lose due to a keeper mistake but they were nowhere near the standard of the better teams we have faced this season.

Riccy looks different class. He must start somewhere on the pitch!

The bloke had hold of Dickie's shirt, pulling him, to the extent that it made a large triangle off his back which was obvious for the Ref to see. Hence why Dickie ended up on the ground. I'm not sure how that is 50/50 when it was the back of Dickie's shirt he had hold of.

Absolutely Bob. Round at Chez Kip. It will be attended mostly to console those who have stayed so resolutely defiant in the face of obvious peril.

Guests of honour- your good self, the captain of the titanic, and the iraqi information minister.

Music to be provided by Romes very own fiddler.

Agreed - really thought when Rothwell had to go off that it would be his chance to show us what he could do. But that was the end of any creativity, no one took control. Very disappointing.

Much, much better, but still a loss :(

This was the most frustrated I’ve been watching us for some time now. We worked so many good positions and only picked the right pass or cross a couple of times. Rothwell going off early was big because he was our best player up till that point.
Napa, Van Kessell both did well when they came on and surely deserve a starting place. Mous and Dickie were solid. Obika frustrates me the most along with Mowatt. They are clearly decent league one players but wasted our best chances.
I think we may get relegated unless we can suddenly get a cutting edge up front which is unlikely.

Dickie should have been trying to win the ball but he was facing the north stand for the whole duration of the kick!

Got to start 2,up top every game ..time for rici to start again . Maybe need to be cute and try nappa and onion .. thought we were the better team today . Van kessel did well and as an impact player . Thomas was sulking I was told .

We trained to play the corners short...but ‘forgot’ during the match.

Centre mid looked better with Mowatt alongside Ledson.

Centre midfield admittedly did look more stable today, however Mowatt didn't impact the game whatsoever in a positive way. Hoping Brannagan can make a difference against Northampton and bring creativity.
