General 30/03/2023 - KPC meeting

Kidlington Residents
The most important thing now is not to get hung up on what happened with the poll thing. The important thing is to concentrate on the poll.
HAVE YOU REGISTERED TO VOTE
HAVE YOU GOT YOUR PHOTO ID READY
The opposition sprung this and they will be registered and ready, make sure you are.
Then we need to get posters and leaflets up like never before with the answer we want on them. Don't leave it to a few this time.
The answer is not binding on the council but a right answer for us isn't half going to help I feel.

I logged out at around 9.10pm. The request for a poll comes as no surprise as that is the right of the residents of Kidlington. £7k to force the KPC to object to the development has to be the greatest waste of taxpayers money as we all know that the majority of councillors are against it. Even if a poll is held and the KPC come out as anti stadium, they have no say to the outcome. Chesterton residents were overwhelmingly opposed to the new water park (Wolf) They fought hard, guess what? The work is already underway. All is not lost and we have now seen how dirty FoSB will fight.
The truth was laid bare by NMW at last nights meeting. NO STADIUM, NO OXFORD UNITED. We can flood Kidlington with people who are able to explain the importance of the building of a 1st class sporting venue which will bring both prosperity and employment to the area. It’s time to engage with all supporters and not just those in Kidlington.

Does anybody have David Robey's E Mail address? Would it be a good idea for people to E Mail him and express anger and disappointment at the stitch up?

Does anyone have a recording of the meeting so I can watch my son speaking again?

How can we trust anyone who sits on KPC after this?

KPC are in FOSBs pocket, essentially the same organisation with some outside help from a few north Oxford residents, that's obvious now (it pretty much was before).

The vote has no validity, they know most local people are not going to bother turning out to vote for a single issue vote on a bit of scrubland which isn't particularly close to where they live, that's what the nimbys of KPC/FOSB are relying on.

This is a prime example of the corruption of local politics by tiny, aging pressure groups who don't care about the local area but just want to impose a dead stop on any progress as they don't care about jobs, the economy, facilities for the young, disabled or disadvantaged etc as they are are alright, want to keep some (made up in their heads) rural idyllic village which hasn't been Kidlington for years

How on earth does it cost £7k to run a poll? Are they recording the votes by engraving onto gold bullion?
You wait until they hold a proper consultation and the cost of that, and in all fairness to Dave Robey he did say that KPC would rather wait until the plans have been produced so that they could be scrutinised before holding the consultation. Now Victoria and Trevor Campbell have now found a small by-law to get this poll at a cost of 7k to the parish council. It doesn’t carry any weight as it’s just a formality in having an opinion as to the views of the locals.
It shouldn’t hold up any dealings in moving forward with the stadium and OUFC and the OCC
The vote for this poll was 65 for 60 against and considering there was standing room only with all 159!seats taken there were a lot of abstaining.

Those 65 people have cost £7K, lovely waste of taxpayers money on something which has no validity. Still its not as if they could of spent it on anything else like sports facilities for locals, they would rather P**s it up the wall.

Bazzer, it was always on the cards for this to happen as it only takes 10 signatures from people who are residents of Kidlington to force a meeting. It’s not something to be concerned about unless you are a Kidlington council taxpayer. We know that in reality there are enough Councillors who don’t want any development and would have voted against anyway. The waste of £7k of taxpayers money should concern the residents. We need to encourage people in Kidlington to turn up and vote for KPC support based on the obvious benefits that this development will bring to everyone in the area. We need to support any candidate who is standing against Ian Middleton in May and get them elected.
SUPPORT THE STADIUM OR LOSE OUR FOOTBALL CLUB.

The most important thing here is that we don’t lose sight of the fact that we need as many people as we can to vote in the poll.
Last night @bazzer9461 said the vote for a poll was 65 to 60 so taking this forward we may still lose but say it’s 60/40 against us that means there are a lot of people who do want the stadium. So this would hardly be a ringing endorsement for KPC or FoSB

Am I missing something here. I was under the impression the 'Triangle' was in Oxford City land, not KPC? Granted, Stratfield Brake is within KPC but that is off the table so why the meeting?
