Home Match Day Thread ++OUFC V Scunthorpe 30/3/18 Match Thread++

I can't see MK Dons or Northampton getting more than 49 points, Bury are gone and Rochdale not much better. So yes, 50 points should be enough.

But anyone who thinks Robinson will settle for just enough hasn't been listening for the last week!

Maybe not Northampton, but MK have got good form, and at this rate will probably be safe,

We can't play the way Robinson wants us to play until the summer - With Hall out for the rest of the season, we've no threat on the wings whatsoever.

He wants us in playoff position form for the last few games, but I can't see us doing anything more than grinding out just enough wins for safety to be honest.

Glad to see a lot of play going through Rothwell and Ledson. Maybe KR's way of saying "sign and I'll make you look so good next year"

MK Dons have got Blackburn and Wigan in their next 2 games. Plus Bradford and Shrewsbury away last game. So getting 7 points from the remaining 3 games will take them to 49 points.

Not taking anything for granted but just can't see many teams getting near 50 points.

Really, Jon?
I am not sure about a point at home being a step nearer. We have the top three to play away. Let's assume we lose all those.
So then we need six points from our five other games to get to 52. It would be unwise to bet the house on the total needed being less than that.
Our GD may well take a battering from those three away games as well.
I would say that today's result is only a 'point closer ' if we get something from Monday's game. The sad truth is that since our bright start to the season we have 34 points from 32 games. That is relegation form over a very extended period. We have been remarkably consistently bad!
Yes, really!
We are a point closer to whatever total we will need to stay up - simple as that!
Right now, the only thing that matters is staying up, however we get across that line and whenever the points are/were won.
Once we've done that, then we can concentrate on making sure next season is better than this one.
It really is as simple as that!

Bless. Little Scotchers is all angry. Must be the people he spends his weeks with.
I saw this coming; you did not because you have no judgement or understanding of the game.
Yes, I am irritated - maybe even bitter - that a club which was in such a good position this time last year has frittered its position away so wilfully with bad decision after bad decision. The fact that you take such joy in our current position is just weird.
I understand the frustration of seeing all the good work from previous seasons being thrown away but how is anger and bitterness about it going to help the current situation? Now is the time for everyone to come together and get behind KR and the team to ensure we save our league 1 status. Any positive, such as the second half rally and point gained should be gladly accepted and built upon. Then, hopefully when we’re safe from relegation, we can regroup, learn the lessons from our mistakes and make sure we avoid this situation in the future

We were absolutely horrendous today. Should have been 4 down by halftime. Never a penalty either. Lucky point.

Well in the first half we were absolutely hammered. But football is a strange game and KR set up the team differently in the second half. We closed down far quicker and Scunny suddenly looked on the same planet as us.
Regarding points, I would be surprised if more than 50 is needed (maybe 49 due to our GD).
Anything from Shrewsbury will be a real bonus, and then we have the real opportunity to put any talk of relegation to bed with three home games in a row.

Q. When is a point not a point?
A. After reading this post. Apparently.

We need 50 points (or 52). A point today is a point towards that. Therefore a step nearer?

Simple fact is we do not close down tight enough and allow balls into the box far too easily.

Another point I want to make is I am not interested in Charlie spouting his nonesense anymore, he seems to 'infect' every thread. A very sad individual who maybe needs to get out more!

Obika finally showing glimpses doesnt look as if he is fully fit though.Napa will be better off the bench hard to know how to utilise Wes GVK and mehmeti!

Yes indeed. Totally behind Robinson. Every manager should start with a clean sheet and goodwill. Pep had that, and KR as well.
Hopefully, we will eke out the points we need to creep towards safety. And then he can set about the mother of all rebuilds. The decisions made last summer by Eales and Pep were a horror show. Bad strategy; bad execution. By budget we will probably be the most under-performing club in League 1 this season.
KR certainly walks the walk of a man who won't be put off by the scale of the job. Though it would be interesting to give a penny for his thoughts on Charlton's bounce since he left them: 6 points with 6 scored and 0 conceded!!

You still think that about Rochdale after today's result against Shrewsbury? ?

I think its now abudantly clear we have a chronic excuse for a team. We are a rotten team.

Im still not totally convinced were going to do it.

But if we do, its time to tear this squad apart.

A valid post Charlie. But why end with a negative? Why search out the chance to s**t stir pretty much every single time? Alright it's not a major one by your standards, but being in the media you know exactly what you're doing - whipping up negativity at any opportunity. I think you'd sell your own family members if it gave you more air time. Like the poster said, there is no other option at the moment other than total unity.
