I have looked again and again at the video and I cannot make out anything that is said nor can I see anything more than a couple of words being said by Brannagan whilst on his knees. "Screaming and shouting"? You do have an imagination.

However, it is plain to see that you have your viewpoint as a Sunderland supporter. To labour the point with you is pointless and I have no desire to waste further time on the matter.
No problem. One last question, as you've watched it again.
Do you think you need to be a qualified medical practitioner to see he wasn't seriously injured?

Refs are encouraged to keep the game moving and ignore play acting.

They're having a laugh on the Sunderland forum at how quickly he got and ran into the box once he realised what was going on.
As one said, if Oxford fans need a scapegoat, there he is..

He wasn't screaming and shouting, just remonstrating. I exaggerated

It was a rash challenge but Sykes had his eyes on scoring, find it hard to criticise him given the situation.
For balance I would say, yes he was entitled to go for it but get it wrong and it's a yellow and a sending off. He didn't have much time to think about the fact he had already been booked. But a mistimed lunge is going to get you in trouble. In his defence he was keen to get us back on level terms.

The point is quite simple. Play had NOT re-started. The player had not got to his feet. He may have been injured. (As an aside I do have some medical training and know very well that to ignore the merest possibility is a huge error of judgement)

I well remember a referee, not Kettle, it was Mark Brown, telling a player (Alfie Potter) to stop acting, get to his feet and continue. He then booked said player for time wasting. It was later confirmed that the player had ruptured ankle ligaments. He never recovered to his full capabilities.
For Kettle to ignore the potential for an injury when it would not have meant stopping play is reprehensible and a clear indication of the ego driven nature of the man. He is God on the pitch and woe betide anyone who crosses his path.

The point that play had stopped was missed on Quest last night when they said... Karl was disappointed because Kettle didn't stop the game. No, it was because he started the game when Brannagan was down!

This needs putting to bed straight away, Cam held is thigh there was no Head injury and if an opponent did what he did we would be livid.. it was an attempt to waste time imho that backfired.
Regardless of whether there was an injury or not, and I'm sick of saying this, PLAY HAD NOT RE-STARTED. No time could have been wasted as Kettle, as became clear at the end of the first half, added time on at will.
He should have made a proper check, if he felt that Brannagan was attempting to gain advantage by feigning injury, then he could have booked him for that offence.

I get your point but there was a quite a few seconds delay before Cam suddenly went to the floor at his will and then held his thigh.. The Ref would have seen there was clearly no head injury and allowed Sunderland to take the kick Rightly in my opinion.

it's all a matter of opinion but mine is that incidents like that are what fans grew tired of over the years where a trainer was called on needlessly. There was a fella from Wycombe kept doing it at the Kassstad many years ago.

i think the circumstances led for there being no need to ask if Cam was ok.

Possibly. However, a lot of focus on the ref but Sykes and manager let you down, as did the defender who was not injured and just fannying around. He should have been up off his feet and defending against an unmarked McGeady.
I think he had cramp as he initially went to get up, but then quickly straightened his leg. I still think the ref has got to check he’s okay and ensure the kick is taken from the right place, plus not be talking to players whilst pay continues behind him, he didn’t have a clue what was happening, but then it got too late for him to intervene once he could see you (Sunderland) had the ball in a good position. However you look at it it was poor game management all round.

Kettle couldn’t wait to get the card out to send Sykes off for two innocuous challenges. The first booking is laughable and to have to cheek to just point at various parts of the pitch to insinuate previous fouls was a joke, especially when you look at some of the challenges made by your team on Shodipo etc!!

He’s an absolute shite ref which today you benefited from.

Even though it was taken a good 2 yards from the spot of the 'offence' (in inverted commas because I can't even see a foul there)?

Sykes was booked initially for repeated fouling Fair enough. They were all fouls .

The second booking wasn’t justified if you see the playback. He was unlucky to go. Nonetheless he was on a tightrope and Robinson should have hooked him before the hour mark .

To say Sykes should be let go from the club as a result of this unfortunate chain of events - namely that there was a prize chump with a whistle on the pitch isn’t fair to the lad . Massively overblown. He’s talented but inconsistent. Deserves a place in the squad next season.

Robinson getting sent off was more ‘embarrasing’ if you ask me.

Grayson issue is completely different. He has shown himself to be inadequate for L1 football EVERY time he has played.

Winnall is also different. He has lost his pace and now never looks a threat. Not sure who’ll want to take him though.

Grayson should be sent back to blackburn
Not because of yesterday but every time I’ve seen him play for us he’s not looked anywhere near good enough complete waste of a place on the team sheet hopefully he will find his level next season.
Winnall what can you say I just hope a team in non league have some funds and can take him off our hands maybe a Stockport or Wrexham next season he’s literally robbing us by claiming a wage

Throw in's free Kicks are rarely taken from correct spot, The kick was not taken with a pass direct for a Goalscoring chance, there was defending to be done.

How many times do we see players stand over the ball preventing a kick being taken or the ball kicked away? if a side are able to take a quick kick then i'm all for it as the emphasis is on the " Free" is it not?

Odd reply but no you have guessed wrong.
I’m all for having a laugh at a bit of shithousery but Power got over excited and carried away; credit to Mousinho and Short for not reacting.
If the ethos of ‘forgive and forget, let’s all hug it out and move on’ works for you, that’s up to you.
It doesn’t cut it for me on this occasion.

What I noticed not just yesterday is when we get a lead we decide to time waste by taking an age with throw ins, goalkicks and fouling. Last year we would of kicked on and tried and got another goal rather then try and defend a lead for the rest of the game. We got what we deserved yesterday regardless of the sending off and the dodgy ref. We might aswell have Atkins or Mourinho in charge at the moment the way we play.

I would imagine a lot of people crying about Power giving our bench what for used to cheer and laugh when the likes of Maguire and Hylton did exactly the same thing in years gone by. No wonder Power said we have a soft underbelly in his post-match. I’ve even seen people calling for fines and retrospective action. Good lord...

Sometimes it’s your players dishing it out and sometimes it’s the other way around. That’s football. I didn’t realise so many had gone so soft.

Don’t see that at all.

There’s nothing soft with thinking Power is a c**t.

Thats why Stevens got head butted by the Sunderland member apparently, they were unhappy at how long he was taking to restart the game. Same as why the 4 mins of added time was added in the first half.

Did you see the inept ref hurry any of stevens goal kicks along?
