I emailed McWilliams pointing out that he had asked us season ticket holders to renew early and to encourage friends and family to purchase one, which by his own admission in the local press, fans have done, I pointed out our faith was not being reciprocated by the club with any new players.
Of course I got a full and detailed reply so am fully in the know.

Selling season tickets next season might just be a problem for him.

We have a friend whose son is an Agent for some Championship, L1 & L2 players. His father readily describes him as.. "an absolute bastard - but rich". The stories I have heard make your toes curl. One memorable one is when one of his charges was about to put pen to paper and sign for Stoke - with local media present - and it was terminated because he had a mobile phone call telling him another club had offered £10k a week more.
In this sort of climate I feel genuinely sorry for KR. We have a very well run club but I do wonder if our (new) money men really want to spend on the playing side of things.

Half the reinforcements should be here by now tho!

So far we’ve managed to trial a croc and fried chicken man. Plus almost sign someone who got half way here from USA and had to turn round again!
The wind must have changed direction for the hot air balloon.

Think this whole scenario rests on whether hes actually pre signed anything or not. If theres still nothing concrete and the deals open to being hijacked or, philly get an injury next week what then ??
If he was to be hijacked bu another club then I think it would show us to be a fairly poor run club and questions over the head of recruitment, KR and NMcW ajnd what the bloody hell they are doing and whether they’re right for the job.

yep, does anyone actually have proper info on this? if we have signed him,hes ours and shouldnt be playing for them,if we havent he could go anywhere else or be told to stay with Philadelphia for as long as they like?

His contract's up at the end of the current MLS season, so the Union can't keep him beyond January 1st (unless he signs another deal).

It sounds to me as if they are mostly doing this deal for Findlay's benefit, because he's been a good soldier for them but is now getting pissed off at never getting a game because they've got two awesome CBs ahead of him in the depth chart.

I really doubt that the money we are offering is that important to them. Pure guesswork, but given he's almost out of contract and given our recent history, I would assume that it's in the low hundreds of thousands. Their revenues are in the ~$20m range, so it's not exactly big money for the Union.

So the negotiating power is unfortunately with them. If the deal falls apart, they probably shrug and go 'Oh well', Lindsay gets even more pissed off at having to sit on the bench for another six months but then finds a club of his choice in January, but OUFC are really screwed as we miss out on our key CB transfer target that we've been pursuing for a year. Which is likely why they've been able to insist that the deal goes according to their timetable, not ours. It's negotiation 101 - what's your BATNA?

I don't believe he can be touted around, a price has been agreed between us and Philadelphia it would reflect very badly on Philly if it does .

Why is it more difficult to sell season tickets in the Championship to League One?

Thanks to the stadium situation, player trading is the only part of the business that stops those same “money men” from having to spend even more of their own money on propping the club up in full. If they don’t buy they can’t sell, which means they have to spend their own cash on offsetting bigger losses. They lose more money that way, not less.

What would be the logic to them spending a million pounds on upgrading the training ground this summer to then refuse to spend a penny on players? Especially given they spent nearly half a million quid on simply loaning a player last season in Herbie Kane. Not to mention turning down £2million in combined bids for the likes of Brannagan, Stevens and Sykes, while spending 400k plus top wages on Browne, offering even more for Szmodics, another half a million in fees and wages on McGuane, hundreds of thousands in loan fees plus wages on Whyte and Holland et al, new contracts on more money for the likes of Moore, Baldock and Bodin in the last few weeks…

There is no advantage or economic benefit to the taps being turned off by the board at this time. If they were tightening the purse strings they wouldn’t have bothered totally revamping a facility that they don’t even own.

This is what scares me with KR during the transfer window, he says there is a plan A/B/C etc but he spends so long chasing his prized possession that we miss out on the other options.

Albeit, as the transfer window develops more players become available but then it leads to an unbalanced team because he then gets his head turned to that new shiny winger, when in actual fact for the balance of the team we needed another left/dm as was the case in January.

I think we should go and sign a player like Toal or Gubbins, a developmental player to give the respective game time to, and settle Findlay as and when/if that happens. If he impresses in these two games, may stay in the US where he alluded to is a complete change of lifestyle.

That’s what I don’t understand. Totally get all the things you mention above which are spot on, but then why are we struggling to bring in players as permanent signings? or any loans thus far? If the money is there what’s stopping us?

Please don’t say other clubs waiting to get replacements in!

And sorry to go over old ground again and again but why even consider the likes of Jones and Sinclair?

Somewhere and somehow things just don’t quite seem to add up or make sense?

Things only don't add up if you think that we're only looking at Sinclair and Jones. Ryan has explained in detail about recent expenditure, and if you think that we spent £500k on a loan deal for Kane, then how much do you think we'll be paying to bring in the likes of Dane Scarlett, Tyler Morton and a PL left back?

Add it the fact that we'll also likely bring a player similar to Kane for centre mid, Findlay and maybe another cb/rb and at least 2 more wingers and you can see that there's still some big money to spend.

Well they better get on with it! Or we’ll be borrowing players from Oxford City

I live the positivity but come on even you must realise something isn't right. KR said he had 2 signings, so is one Findlay and we’ve allowed him to play Romeo more games that’s if he comes of the bench, when in reality he could get seriously injured. That would be a total farce and 2nd who was the 2nd signing he alluded to?

I'm not doubting you Ryan, I'm not. You are more ITK than I could ever dream of being. But you can see how it's just not adding up at all?

I dont doubt that we have, in the past, somewhat 'gone for it'. But this season it feels like something has changed. When we got to maybe being 2-3 good players away from being contenders it feels like we have totally given up.

We've sold a 2 million pound player and our only significant move is to see if a guy fancies delaying his homage to the Colonel a few months.

It's utterly, utterly bizarre, and you would hope a journalist is asking what the crap is going on.
