Won’t be an outlet going forward at all now unfortunately if brown was to play LB & will make us even more predictable in terms of how we attack as both long and brown both are defensive by nature and have very little end product in terms of quality of crosses in the final 3rd

Sam Long grabbed a bucket load of assists in the 20/21 season and put in at least twice as many crosses/balls across the box that were a toe away from more goals. Plenty of end product there.

So if Brown had played on Saturday instead of Seddon, and we’d got defensively stronger but lost something attacking wise… we’d have 1 point now instead of zero??
Which would of been fair enough but that’s not what Robinson expects out of his RB’s & LB’s is it & his whole managerial brand is built on playing forward thinking free flowing football. Looking back now, one lapse cost us on Saturday against a side with a top end championship midfielder, a championship class winger & 2 championship class CB’s. It’s not all doom & gloom but bloody hell we need reinforcements and soon as otherwise one injury in key positions and we are down to Goodrham & O’donkor who Kr didn’t even want to bring on Saturday when 1-0 down.

At what point after the 5 players we need come in do we get people agreeing that Team Happy Clappy were right all along?!

That’s the 2020/21 season. This is the here and now. I would do a charity bet with you now that he doesn’t get more than 8 assists this season. If true about our budget, he should be backup and we should be bringing in someone who is capable of playing at the level above as ultimately that is our aim. Sam long will never be a championship standard defender

How many league one full backs had 8 or more assists last season?

At what point though do the Happy Clappers concede that its unlikely the 5 players needed dont come in or the defence isnt sorted by the end of the window and change discs to the Smiths "Panic?"
1st September. But nobody - and I mean nobody - is saying that is where we want to be.

Apart from the unhappy clappers who appear desperate for the opportunity to rub noses in things.

We can't delay for too long when the next 5 games are very winnable. Perhaps the relatively easy games on the horizon make it easier for us to sit and wait. But that is a very high risk strategy. That said I am a happy clapper rather than a doom and gloom merchant

Seddon got 6? By contrast, long got 1. Cadden got 14 for forest green last season? Kane Wilson got about the same?

For Wigan last season.

Max power 12
James Mclean 7.

For Wednesday

Marvin Johnson 8.

All the teams that we were in and around last season.

The worst Seddon moment from Saturday, for me, was the Eastwood save - it's at about 1:05 on the short version of the highlights:

Findlay has pushed up on the forward into the centre circle, and fouled his man.
Seddon has to know that a) Findlay is out of the play, and b) Mendez-Laing is about 20% quicker than he is. So he simply has to drop five yards off him to protect his own goal. Instead, he idly stands there next to his man, watching the ball - and when Derby take it quickly, it's the simplest ball in the world for them to release Mendez-Laing on goal. This was a period of the game when we were on top, but Easty needed to bail Seddon out otherwise it would have been an absurdly simple goal to concede.
I don't know if it's just a lack of concentration, or a more fundamental lack of understanding of positioning and space on a football field - but either way, it seems to happen all the time when Seddon plays LB.

I don't think Ciaron Brown makes the same mistake......but as has been pointed out elsewhere on this thread, Brown doesn't offer you a whole lot in an attacking sense.

I don't know how anyone could look at our squad, remember last season and then watch the game on Saturday, and not think that LB is one of the key positions where we need an upgrade. But KR seemed to say otherwise. At this point, I'm just praying that it's him spouting randomly at a press conference (as he is wont to do) rather than what he actually thinks.......

Not happy clappers, just realistic patient supporters. As you say let’s wait until end of August.
If Your happy to wait until the end of the month to get the right players in, which is 6 games in, and then come May we fall short by 6 points what then…. Ahh never mind we try again next season. KR was unlucky, and give him another year, so we go through the whole cycle again.

Sadly Long isn’t the same player since his injuries. He has list pace so he’s not able to go past a player and is beaten in a chase defensively. He’s possibly playing within himself due to the fear of his hamstring going again, or he’s got permanent damage. Whatever he’s not the player of a couple of years ago.

Gossip on the other social media site saying asking Plymouth fans whats Ryan Hardie like apparently he’s coming here……..any comments @UTO?

Interesting you say that as that is exactly what I’ve heard from someone who knows a member of his family, apparantly for the last couple seasons he’s complained of discomfort, he’s been sent for scans and nothing has been found on each occasion. So interesting you have that observation
