A big game that we simply just never started.

We don’t seem to be able play forward passes in the middle of the pitch ,it goes wide and the quality in is so poor.
We were not going to score today if we played until midnight.

Every effort on goal gets blocked but when Atkinson and Sykes had golden chances they fluffed their lines. Sykes is worry for me - for an attacking midfielder there are no goals and no assists. Brannagan is in and out of the game and gets frustrated.

Robinson made many substitutions in the second half with the result that we became so disjointed. We created very little.

How many fouls does Agyei give away ? and for a big man he’s too often on the deck. Stay on your feet man.

Thought we lacked energy for long periods but Blackpool did a good job on us and it looked like they had more players on the pitch than us!
The sole focus of the team is to feed the wingers. Get the wingers in the game like we did on Tuesday and we play well...prevent CBs moving the ball into midfield and force Hanson/Ruffels to do something and you shut us down as they don't have the quality on the ball.

The only alternative option to feeding the wingers is Atkinson carrying from CB - which is a worry and only further highlights the importance of McGuane.

Throw in the over-reliance on Taylor for our goals and you can do as Blackpool did today...

**prevent the balls into midfield -> stop the wingers being fed -> stop the supply to Taylor -> remove ox goal threat**

Spot on - however much we all would have liked us to be we were never at the races today. We didn't manage at any stage to have enough possession to build any momentum or shape to the game. They were really good. KR a bit limited still in his setup but today was pretty naive if going 2 behind. We never really looked like we would get one back. But that was today. This league is upside down (look at Doncaster last 5!) and anything can happen. I'm sure the influx of new options won't confuse the KR plan, although I look forward to him trying to explain it. All we need is one switch to "flick" - Agyei scoring a couple in the next game/a Matty HT. Just need the cogs to align. COYY
If the cogs aren't aligning it's a problem with the management as the set up is wrong

Annoying especially after Tuesday when I thought it was step up.

We collectively have a squad that is good enough to compete at League 1 level and that’s fine. We shouldn’t end up in trouble as a result. However, how many of them would you regard as good enough to be part of a promotion winning side?

Some I think are very much capable - Taylor, Moore, Gorrin (when at his best), Lee has proven it.

Others I think we’re carrying. They’re not bad players and I’m not pointing the finger at them explicitly for today’s defeat. However they’re not in the same bracket as the players Sunderland, Peterborough and Hull have. Sykes, Forde, a declining Henry, maybe even Ruffels ...

We have to be honest with ourselves here. ‘Good enough’ doesn’t really cut it for a side serious on promotion.

Well I’m not sure we are serious about promotion in those terms, we don’t have the money those clubs do and we have injuries to key players. We’re over performing and doing well- maybe with the salary cap removed and fans back we’ll go for it next season.

Ah well. Go again on Tuesday. Back at it and three points in the bag. It happens.

A reminder to anyone giving it the big one on Tuesday that every game is different, mind. Win, lose, play well, play badly, get it right, get it wrong... not everything is black and white or some sort of agenda based conspiracy. Merely people saying what they see. Nobody will know where we really are until May, so let’s just see what happens and keep things in perspective.

Think I’ll have another shower. Where’s my beer...
that was a point i was making.

On the pitch we are MILES away from the Championship. Off the pitch it looks like some of our far Eastern friends want to benefit from"brand Oxford ".

That was pretty depressing.

Blackpool set up competently to stifle our attempts to play out from the back and we don't have the guile to play around that. Not the way we set up, anyway.

Curious lack of energy, poor movement off the ball. Schoolboy defending against corners. We looked nervous and one-footed. Panic when we couldn't get it forward from the back.

Ah shit. Substitutions just mud thrown at a wall.

We go again on Tuesday. Dear christ I hope the cobblers' manager doesn't watch videos of us, or we change it round because we are so predictable.

Pfft.

No, this is an Oxford fans forum and we all have different opinions , its part of the game but kip only pops up when we are doing badly and slags the side , management off while taking great delight in doing so .
That’s actually incorrect and has become a popular myth. He’s on plenty of threads when we are winning it’s just people monitor him more closely to fulfill their need for a bogeyman. He’s certainly more present in negative moments but he’s plenty present in positive moments too

No , he really is not .
You just want to defend the undeniable, he pokes his head and says a begrudgingly positive text and I have liked some of his observations but he posts 4or 5 attacks on the team whenever we lose.
Its not constructive or fair just pathetic.

The people on WATG clearly weren't as they keep saying we lost 2-0 to Donny today!!

On the pitch we are probably 3 quality players away from a real promotion push.

Off the pitch we have the investment to get to the championship but we don't have the infrastructure to stay up there, the kassam is barely fit to host league 1 games let alone championship.

Felt sorry for Kelly today, but he wasn't the only one out of his depth.
I think we rely on the same players to produce the goods and when they don't we just don't have others to step up to the plate , they may look ok/good when going well but not quite good enough !
