Away Match Day Thread +++ 30/12/2017 Bradford City v OUFC match day thread +++

Bazzer, I don’t believe for 2 minutes we will be relegated this season. We also won’t be pushing for promotion anytime soon. We are a mid table team and I’d say this transfer window is more important for next season than this season.

You keep banging on about how awful we were yesterday but with all due respect you weren’t there so I’m not sure how you can comment on the performance of the team. Radio Oxford don’t always paint a full reflection of a game. Ive been to games where we have been poor but if you had listened to radio Oxford you would of thought it was a good game and vice versa.

Somewhat selective choice of stats though. We'd just won three on the bounce when your "2 in 12" started, so you could equally have said 5 in 15. It's not great, but the only stat that really matters is league position. We're where we are.

Statistics are factual like it or not. Even with your stats 5 in 15, it is 15 points out of 45 though.
By our league position, you mean 8th to 10th to 12th to who knows where tomorrow, when Ringmaster clothead's circus troupe return to the kassam.

Oh I see.... you now want an entire new squad as well? If I recall its not where you finish in Dec/Jan that really matters. How anyone with your mindset can enjoy football is beyond me. You seem convinced that the Club is in crisis from the top down to the players....... yet we are doing alright in League One which is far better than the pits of the Conference but not as good as the heady days when we were in the top pile. Just enjoy the rollercoaster......its running and there is nothing you can do about it.:)

Highlights up:

Some points:
- Looked poor from Eastwood at our end for the first but Ricardinho kicked the ball out of his hands, so definitely not to blame
- Thomas beaten twice in the air defending corners, one goal and one near miss
- Ruffels was poor for the 2nd and looked like his man for the 3rd
- Mous beaten several times in the air led to goal/chances

I'd add nearly conceding a goal due to a stupid/blind attempted pass across our defence (this time by Ricardinho).

Yes we haven’t been great the last few matches. I think to call pep out now is a bit premature though. At times we’ve been great, I’d go as far as saying as good as we were under Mapp. At others the worst I’ve watched for many years.
We’ve lost a lot of quality but Pep has managed to keep us in line with where Mapp did last season.
Pep didn’t have any real time to understand what he had, what he needed and didn’t have any options because most players were already signed up. Or asking the earth!

I think he deserves a chance not just in the mid season window but in the summer too.

If we’re still struggling this time next year then it’ll be time for a change.

I have a theory as to why we are so vulnerable in the first twenty minutes of a match. I reckon it's because our geriatric back line takes that long to get its muscles up to speed.

I think another source of current negativity that the doom-mongers have lost sight of is that, looking at the last seven games, we've have a tough set of fixtures and have simply lost the games you would realistically expect a mid-table team to: two of the top three at home and a perennial top-six team (and one of the largest clubs in the division) away. There's plenty of cause for concern (injuries, the Wigan capitulation and the recent lack of wins) but we're not in as bad form as some are making out: it's three defeats in seven, five in ten, five in fifteen.

Five in fifteen...are you sure?

Okay.
Just had a look at the last fifteen in all competitions and I make it 3 wins, 5 draws and 7 losses.

Give us a break I went to Peers school + I’m using my I phone which becomes tedious to change screen all for a punctuation mark. ?
I have swiftkey on my android phone which is brilliant, it's available for iPhone as well, suggest giving it a go.

Much as I love him, far from his best game yesterday. Was the only mistake I recall passing it round the back, I've got no problem with Mous bringing it out like he does as it's more beneficial in the long run that just hoofing it.

Looking back on yesterday I thoroughly enjoyed it despite the result. Went to a few decent boozers. Proper ground. Proper crowd, and a good open, end to end game of football to match. Bradford could have been out of sight first half, but equally we had a couple of chances. The pleasing thing for me was that we didn't let our heads drop and had a right go. I would much rather that than hold on for a 0-0 away at Rochdale. Bradford are a good side and will be in the promotion mix. Only being 22 I was not fortunate enough to see the glory days of the 80's. I have been brought up on conference and battling league 2 football. This is the best I've ever seen Oxford. Far too much negativity on here. We are exactly where we should be, an inconsistent, frustrating, mid-table league one team. And I for one am ok with that.
Easily pleased then !
