Away Match Day Thread +++ 23/01/2018 Chelsea U21s v OUFC match thread (EFLT) +++

Maybe the players need to put some effort in too. It works both ways... If players and managers are going to shhhh - then what do they expect back when they perform like tonight and Bury?

Fair enough, but some of the vitriol on Saturday was beyond acceptable in my opinion. I'm a "mild-manerred" (weak if you prefer) person, and not inclined to call someone out if they're being a knob. I haven't been as close to punching someone since the mid-80's as I was to the gobby, pissed-up t**t who was stood behind me in the east stand on Saturday.

We need our ultras back, i

Possibly the lowest ever attendance at the Bridge for a competitive game? Lower than any listed on their website attendance records anyway. To make thing so worse, tickets were £5 (or less). http://www.chelseafc.com/the-club/history/style/statistics/attendance-statistics.html

Imagine those Chelsea U21 and ??? half-and-half scarves.
Well technically speaking it was a reserve team game.

I hope Chelsea B get to the final, play Fleetwood in front of 3,000 and the whole competition is thrown straight into the bin where it belongs.

Regardless of anything, tonight I'm embarrassed that an Oxford United first team lost to an under 21 side. It's humiliating. It undermines League1 football too. The fans are Oxford United and we know we are more than that.

Pretty clear it was sarcastic cheering for Gino to me.

Which isn't wise because we might be relying on him as a striker for a while if Obika is out

Surely we haven't sunk so low as to play a kid who was loaned out to a low non league team, as a starting striker. He may have potential for the future, but at the moment there is a lot of huff and puff and being pushed off the ball at the moment.

Obviously it’s never right for players to get abuse, let alone from their own fans but if he’s got anything about him he’ll use that to inspire him to put in the performances to prove them wrong. Whether he’s good enough to do that however is a question only he can answer

I was there. My thoughts:

Really promising from Buckley-Ricketts. Everything good went through him. I'd even go as far as playing him up front if needed, if he'd just shoot in sight of goal.

Same with Napa. Before he came on we weren't making any forward progress except through IBR.

Every time the ball went to Tiendalli, our attacks stopped dead. I'll say it again, we need a right back more than we need a striker.

Everyone played so much better when we cheered than when we jeered. I get that we can't tolerate the dire performances put in lately, but we need to encourage people taking risks going forward, even if they don't come off. Otherwise you'll just see more of the side-to-side between the back four.

Lego and IBR are the only two who can look themselves in the mirror tonight. The rest absolutely woeful.

Our defence is an absolute shambles. Surely Dickie has to start the next game.

Ruffels has been very poor recently, can anyone recall the last time he had a good game? So easy to get at our brittle back four.

So after this s**t today will the recruitment team find us not one but two strikers oh and 5!defenders and chuck in a couple of midfielders with Maybe one of them being Maguire

He's been great for us but his performance on Saturday-no, I think we saw the best of Mags

First and second points I agree with.

Bit harsh on Tiendalli, kept the call reasonably well when in possession, he was never going to be going past people in a way reminiscent of George Baldock when he was here, but by no means did he kill every attack that went down his side.

Really f*£king annoys me. Maybe a bit more "support" required from our "supporters". I'm no big fan of Gino (Martin gets it worse), but I certainly wouldn't be busting a gut for our fans. I'm as annoyed as anyone about performances, but how the f@#k does screaming abuse AT YOUR OWN TEAM f*#king help!

No offence intended GreatUncleKip, but you pretty much slag off the team every week. Win, lose or draw (unless I'm getting you confused with another poster, in which case I apologise).

Agree, listening to Radox they seemed the only ones with any passion. whoever the new manager is he needs to sort out the defence and the team in general, absolute pile of s**t
