Home Match Day Thread +++ FAC 4th Replay - OUFC v Newcastle United MDT +++

Tbf to Agyei on that chance, it wasn't indecision as his path to the goal was blocked by some canny defending/blocks.
I’m not so sure. A striker at the top of their game would have instinctively shot before the tackle could be made. The commentator got it right when he said something like he couldn’t sort his feet out.

Don’t get me wrong, I think he looks a good prospect and he deserves a run in the team. But KR undoubtedly knows more than I do about the lad and he obviously doesn’t think he’s quite ready yet.

Having just seen the replay on TV, as soon as Agyei got to the ball (Agyei didn't dawdle getting there) to shoot, Ritchie was blocking his way to goal with a sliding block from inches away. He had no chance to get it past Ritchie.

If we paid for 40k for Joelinton, I'd be asking for a refund. How the hell is he worth 40 million? Quite an attitude on him isn't there?

Taylor played for what 65 minutes including extra time?
The first time I have heard him referred to as not a 'real forward'
There were times he was, politely, economic with the runs he made. I can only imagine what those who aren't fans of Mackie would have made of that economy...

And that bit of skill on the halfway line which left 3 Newcastle players in his wake!
The best bit about that was that their player, I think one of the Longstaffs, had done that midway through that second half when we couldn't get a touch, really epitomising their dominance. Sykes' was a lovely symbolic moment of the shift in momentum and a statement of, anything you can do, mate, we can do better - you aint special.

I actually thought that Taylor made a lot less runs than ususal, and also seemed to go to ground fairly easily. I would put this down to him not being 100% fit and wouldn't rip him apart for this game alone. However I would argue that Mackie was certainly no worse in his time on the pitch, and this was when Newcastle were at their strongest. My defence of Mackie is not to say that he is brilliant but that he offers different things that have their place for some games. Equally, Taylor will perform much better than he did last night and they both deserve our support.

If I was Mackie reading these forums, highly, highly unlikely though that is, I'd be disappointed to know that you're retiring me to be honest... I still think I have a few years left in me!?
I can assure you they are reading the forums
