I think that for large periods of the first half, we’ve been pretty good. I don’t think the RadOx commentary gives a fair representation of the game. Over egging any kind of possession that Morecambe get. When in reality, we’ve pressed hard and pushed them back. They’ve done very little. Perhaps that’s the anxiety that comes from watching Oxford for so many years?

I think we’ve been good down the left hand side and I would like to see Whyte come on for Gorrin. Kane to sit deep, so we can get at them. Definitely missing Brannagans presence on the edge of the box though. The chances that have fallen to Gorrin, would usually fall at Cams feet. Could easily have been 3-0 before half time.

I can see why Morecambe have conceded so many - they are hopeless at the back. Space all over the shop, never tracking any of our runners and constantly getting beaten in the air at set pieces. Nick was complementing them on some good last ditch tackles - but they were only making those because time-after-time, we've been cutting through them so easily!

We've played some nice stuff, Holland in particular has his man on toast, but we are missing Cam. Not dominating in the middle like we sometimes can.

Morecambe do look to have something about them going forwards though, so won't be comfortable viewing until we get that second.

Assume you mean Whyte - Sykes is already on! Though he has been one of our quieter forwards.....

Half time thoughts (I’m at the game, with a good view)

Not a great half, but at least we’re 1-0 up. At times we’ve lacked energy and invention, and passed backwards too much.

Gorrin is a good player but do we really need his muck-and-nettles style in a home game against a very limited Morecambe style? He slows us down so much in midfield and passes backwards too much (although did make one great interception) - I also think Kane is better at the base of midfield.

Sykes is a bit slow and there have been a couple of occasions where Whyte’s pace would have got him free on the right hand side.

Holland has looked good though and really should have scored.

Def feels like we need another goal. It's so clear how important Cam is to our team when he's not in it - his energy and commitment drives the team and I think the midfield has been a little underwhelming without him in there. Holland is turning into a proper little player for us now, love how he plays without fear and has the defender beaten time and again.

It’s been a good game so far. I think Morecambe deserve a bit of credit, they’ve looked quite threatening going forward. We just need to play our game, and if we get that second goal early on we can see this one out. We need 3 points here, to keep up with the pacesetters.
