I agree it's unliklely, but mainly because of the amount of football he'd probably play. However, when playing for Oxford United in League One under Karl Robinson, he scored 4 goals in 942 minutes. Small sample size for sure, but repeating this rate of goalscoring he'd have to play 2355 mins, which equates to 26x 90mins. So by that rate he'd also get close to 20 goals if he played every minute of every game.
When you consider he also got 3 assists in that time, his goal involvement rate was 1 in every 134 mins. Not too shabby really, in pretty much the only spell of consistent first team football at this level.
He's also a guy who was also very well thought of at Liverpool, and was once signed for £4m by Watford.
As I say, I don't think he is necessarily going to sign and nor do I think we should, but let's not pretend he is some kind of competition winner.
Dwight Tiendalli was very well thought of by Holland too.
JS scored four goals for OUFC three years ago. He’s subsequently scored one league goal in 41 games and not played since 2021.
Signing a footballer 6 years ago for £4 million doesn’t count for much. That player is gone.
