Eventually a comfortable win tonight that belies an Accrington side who looked dangerous right up to our second goal.
The clean sheet was hard fought for from the quite brilliant defence typified by Simon Eastwood. A double save that kept us clean was right out of the top drawer.
At times you look at this side and see an embarrassment of riches, they truly are a joy to watch as they move the ball with such consummate ease. But they are capable of grinding it out when it is required and they certainly had to earn the right to play in that first half.
Henry, Browne, Brannagan and Taylor are fit and firing again... We stepped it up second half and just blew Accy away.
I actually felt quite sorry for them as they huffed and puffed trying desperately to put a foot on the ball that was constantly on the move. It’s almost brutal at times.
Putting aside my love for this club for one moment, Why Karl Robinson would consider moving on right now is a mystery to me.
This time, this moment, this team that he has built is of his design. He is on the cusp of something quite brilliant and utterly different to his Charlton experience. Perhaps one of his finest moments in football is imminent right here and now.
He could wait and see how the land lies at the end of the season but moving on now would, in my opinion be a poor decision no matter what.
Sometimes, you just don’t get the luck or the breaks in football, from what I see, he has the players here and now that would run through brick walls for him. Surely, he must know that to move on at this point would break that bond and consign this season (and all he has achieved within it) to the bin. All he has worked so tirelessly for, reduced to a numbing denouement would surely be unthinkable wouldn’t it?
