Home Match Day Thread 5/10/2021 PJT: OUFC v Stevenage

For 30 minutes we looked brilliant, but it was so casual especially in the final third. In the league that performance would be unforgivable, but fortunately it's not. Not really the end of the world, but a few players may have played their way out of KR's thoughts rather than in to. Despite his goal, the rest of the game I thought Agyei was really poor, Cooper did nothing to help his chances of getting league minutes although you could see he was trying, Seddon misplaced a fair few passes, and Williams I thought looked committed in the first half but was poor second half, and between him and Forde we consistently gave the ball away on that right hand side - which led to their first goal too. Brannagan, Sykes, Henry and the CBs were ok but not at their best. Holland had a couple moments and Davis I thought looked ok in his cameo but neither affected the game much.

Hopefully this game serves as a bit of a slap in the face and a wake up call to the players - you had a good few performances recently but that doesn't mean you've won just because you're playing some nice football. Stick it in the bloody net and kill the game.

And this is why Eastwood isn’t our starting goalkeeper. Poor from him for both goals
Eastwood left far too much space at his near post for the first and the attempt to save the shot that again beat him at the near post
at the end was just desperate stuff.

That game was just gifted to Stevenage because our midfield just could not be bothered to
tackle or go with runners. We can’t keep a clean sheet - that’s for sure and their first goal was coming.
Agyei also showed why he doesn’t start games in the League. He was utterly abysmal and the least he can do is run
around - he barely touched the ball after scoring tonight.

Agyei was generally hopeless. Frustrating because he has so much more than that.

Did well for the goal but showed his bad side as well when not taking a punt on crosses beating a defender and getting through to him, with one notably in the 1st half which would have been a tap in.

Brannigan, Thorniley and Moore did ok, almost everyone else was poor. Eastwood at fault for both goals. I find it strange that Agyei is getting so much stick when Forde, Seddon, Henry, Sykes did absolutely no better than him whatsoever and Holland, Cooper, Williams were all worse. Agyei actually managed to score as well but apparently that’s irrelevant

It's probably a sign of how little I care about this competition that I came on here to see if there was any injury news, or interesting new threads - and it turns out that we had a game tonight! Oops.

Honestly couldn't care less that we lost in this competition (although I understand from the match report that we're actually not mathematically eliminated yet).....

......but it is a bit disappointing that we lost to a 'bottom third of League Two' Stevenage side, despite playing what you'd probably categorize as a 1.5 team. Certainly feels as if it wasted a bunch of energy/minutes from Cam, Henry, Sykes and the whole back four.

Good for Cooper & Agyei to get 90 minutes though.....if only because it showed that neither of them are miracle workers that should be starting in the league every week.
