Away Match Day Thread 16/11/2021 FA Cup 1st R. Replay: Bristol Rovers v OUFC

Yes I agree that we would likely come straight back down if we were promoted and we kept the exact same squad we had now.

However, if you're of this opinion then I would like to point you towards something called 'transfers'. I've been reading about them and it appears it's a thing that clubs do where they sign players they want in order to become more competitive, and sell or release players they don't think are right for them at that moment in time. I think (and someone who is ITK on these kind of things can correct me if I'm wrong), that if we did get promoted, we would probably try this transfer thingy out in order to get a better squad that would hopefully fare better at Championship level.

I could be wrong though and I apologise in advance if I have misunderstood this fundamental aspect of how football works.

This is the first I've heard of 'transfers'.

I assume it's a new thing, replacing the old system whereby we somehow ended up having to use Alex Jeanin or Jamie Hanson (for example)?

Gobbing off > calls out a poster who consistently posts in a moronic manner.

Nobody is wearing rose tinted glasses but some of us can see the wood from the trees. Some can see what the club are trying to sustainably build for our clubs future. Throwing millions at the playing squad if we get promoted? Not for me, thanks. Imagine if we did and STILL got relegated - you’d be the first on here having a pop at all and sundrie connected with the club.

We’re never going to agree so probably best it’s left there and we agree to disagree. I think you’re a clown and you think i’m a treacle 🤣.

Fact of the matter is, despite all of the bile that comes from you, our club is in a good position and 1 defeat in he Cup isn’t going to change that.

Yes our club are in a healthy position at the moment. Trust me I don’t want millions spent on our playing squad but enough to make us sustainable which wouldn’t be millions of spent wisely.
I slag Bournemouth many times because of the millions they’ve spent to achieve what they have, but if Max Denim leaves and sells and leaves the club with their debt they will fold as no one would want to take on their debt and I for one and more than likely every OUFC fan wouldn’t want that for us.
Yes I can see the wood from the trees and know we are trying for sustainability but have been seeing this for decades and nothing to show for it. Dodgy owners possibly fictitious 5 year journeys? Definitely.
The new owners have more money than any of our previous owners in OUFC’s history. And once the announcement is made of their takeover hopefully we can all see the future with a press conference or a fans forum where there journey wants to end.

Yes we can agree to disagree yea we are 6th and as others have alluded to 3 points on Saturday and yesterday will be forgotten.

Since ifollow has become a thing its my opinion that the people at radox and myself
don`t always appear to be watching the same game which makes commenting on
individual players with any certainty kinda difficult, so i nominate the DJ as my man
of the match, played a blinder imo, some of those tunes at HT were fat !

Jerome said the result would get national interest, the story is 9th on the BBC Sport website :(

"A screamer & a late winner - Bristol Rovers stun Oxford United"

Is it not 'phat', rather than 'fat'?

Least we get to play a massive, big club on December 4th............................. :)

Beat Wigan, beat Blunderland and all this will be chaff in the wind.........................................

I think Alex Jeanin was here on a foreign exchange visit (along with Arthur Gnohere).

Others like Phil Trainer were here on work experience to see if they wanted to try out footballing as a career path, or if they'd rather stick with being a plumber.

Ah yes, relying on 'interns' as they call it these days

Don’t be such a little boy, if you can’t handle the criticism or the questions about issues that are of a concern then maybe this isn’t for you.
What I have said is that we are not a club ready for promotion, do I want promotion? Of course I do but we’re not ready, however with the pending announcement of new owners with the wealth they have then yes anything is possible but it depends on whether they use their wealth not just for a new ground but towards the playing staff for us to be able to compete in the championship. But if we’re are promoted I will happy but not if nothing is done in a major overhaul of the playing staff. You may have rose tinted glasses and maybe one of these fans that see us lose 1 or 2 nil and say we were brilliant and didn’t deserve to lose when in fact we lost and fans cant understand why. Say as it is you seem quite comfortable gobbing off on here towards me which is your right but be honest.
We have a good side but just for L1 who last night let themselves down and we’re a disgrace and performances like that will not get you promoted.
As for the child comment you’ve gone running to malc/ste/ESB now who’s the child or maybe grass is more appropriate.
Bazzer in falling out with another poster shock.

Oh, and that first line looks very much like you're telling him to "f**k off the forum" only with more moderate language, but you'd never do that would you!

Quite frankly this bloke is polluting every other thread with his childish tantrums, doesn't care who he insults, and yet he seems immune from any action. And people wonder why many good posters have deserted the forum?

Cue Bazzer replying with yet more inane dribble. Someone should buy him a bib for Christmas.

Jumped in yourself with a reply? Shock horror, let’s hound Bazzer because he dares to question.
