Transfer News January 2021/22 Transfer Window

What Blackpool also seem to be forgetting is the release clause isn't our valuation of CB, it's a contractually-agreed price which if met means we can't stop him talking to another side - our valuation is probably a fair bit higher. We don't have to take any other player values into consideration at all when a team makes a bid. If you want him, you know the release figure (let's not pretend that it's secret), so bid it instead of playing games.

Just a general point, and in case Karl is reading, Sam Long can't be used as CB cover when he's playing at RB.

But surely you can just play Hanson at Right Back for the rest of the season?

Good displays did you not see what Nigel Pearson said about him recently, he started well but think he has dropped off now. Is he back in their side now?
They've only played two games since the comments.
An FA Cup tie where he played the full 90mins plus 30mins extra time and then in their next league game he started on the bench, got brought on after 50minutes when they were already 5-2 down, final score was 6-2

Just seen the Thorniley rumours on Twitter. Quite amused really. Literally nobody benefits from this - least of all Thorniley, who I doubt is going to walk in to playing every week in another Championship / top League One side. You'd imagine he'd be pretty annoyed at having his season, and wider career, sacrificed in a futile negotiation ploy by his parent club. I suggested they might do this on here, partly as a joke, when the CB rumours started to circle again a couple of weeks ago. Pretty surprising they're actually following through with it.

It's frustrating for us, as now we need to find another CB, but hardly the end of the world. I'm looking forward to seeing more of McNally - I think he's really got something about him. I also think it's no coincidence that our one (IIRC) goal from a corner this season came from McNally. With him, Moore and Long as targets in the box, suddenly we look a lot more dangerous than when one of our targets is the diminutive Blackpool man. I don't think we have a 'big' enough team elsewhere this season to be afforded the luxury of also having one small CB. (This, as others have pointed out, was made painfully clear on Saturday.)

Don't want to rewrite history though - I think Thorniley is very good and it would be a shame to see him go. He's just not irreplaceable, and it's possible that the right replacement helps us pick up a few more points than we would have done with JT.

At the time of writing, he's their joint-fourth highest appearance maker this season. He's a player that was playing conference football not too long ago, of course they're not going to ship him out on his first signs of struggles. All this talk of former players coming back is a parody of itself now.

Also, Blackpool must be totally skint, right? For a Championship club, with all the riches that entails, not to be able to stump up £1m (or whatever the release is) for a player who would probably go straight into their starting XI (or at least match day squad) seems very bizarre.

As mentioned on other thread, Celtic have activated the release clause of MK Dons midfielder Matt O'Riley - £1.5m

We know Brannagan is worth around the same, well done to the club for holding out.

Blackpool may want to take a leaf out of Celtics book, only go shopping for things you can afford!

Main issue is not whether McNally is better or worse than thornily, but that we'll lose that option of rotating the three CBs with injury and suspension without disturbing longie at RB.
Not a problem if we sign Findlay, otherwise we may see Golding back from loan and a fixture on the bench

I thought Nosakhare looked half decent in his cameos too, although I'd much rather we had an experienced player in!

Thank god we have Mous then, who's definitely our fourth-choice CB option and not simply a coach with a player registration

I've seen him at Chesterfield quite regularly. He's a decent player who knows where the goal is.

Worth 750k? Not for me at this point. Too much to prove.
Worth a punt when at Oxford City for a tenth of that. Absolutely.
Has he got speed ? Let's remember Campbell ( Jarrow Roofing ). Looked way off it pace-wise. Massive step up to Div. One and more so to the Championship.
