I'm one of the most optimistic fans here but that's game over. We'd have to win all 4 of our remaining games and get some favours too.

I'm proud of our performance this season, but this has been the most stacked L1 possibly ever, and we've been up there all season. Just such a shame that our luck well and truly ran out so close to the end of the season.

Agree. It’s far from a dire season (Crewe are on course to beat our record low 27 points from 2000-01 at this rate) but it’s a disappointing end to things.

Luck plays part of it although squad ability and balance is more important. We’ve lacked the latter for that all season and many of us observed it from August onwards.

I have to say I’m with Kip. KR is a nearly man manager who won’t take us up.

12 points to play for and no day trippers at the last 2 home games are about the only good points left atm

Well, that was our season in a microcosm.

Defensively doggy on the flanks and highly susceptible to break aways. A keeper who doesn't appear to save anything at critical points that isn't fired straight at him*. Plenty of possession in and around the opposition's box that can lead to high scores against lesser defences but is not effective enough against the top teams we need to be equal to or better than if we want promotion.

So what about Robinson? He's made us more entertaining but had failed to strengthen us to the levels needs to gain promotion. I can't see that changing so if promotion is your be all and end all he has to go. It's not mine and I'm happy to be entertained. Maybe that an age thing having 'been there, done that' and knowing how bad it can be (the conference days) but I might not think the same if I were twenty years younger!

When is someone going to ask why other teams' keepers keep pulling off critical 'worldies' but Stevens doesn't?

Same old, same old - full house, pressure on, usual result.

All the talk and lacking in substance.

Rinse & repeat for next season barring an insane series of events such as us scraping into the playoffs by the skin of our teeth, making the final and winning it.

Stranger things might happen.

We were the better team for long periods. They will not go up -thought their fans were surprisingly quiet and they stole the points at the end.
We go again next Friday.

This logic completely baffles me, why would any fan trade seeing a couple goals over winning games!

Baffling that Nick was surprised, after the Bolton game, to hear that fans wanted 1-0 wins and not swashbuckling entertainment.

I think Radio Oxford perhaps needs to listen to the fans a bit more, rather than the club.

Pretty sure the fan view will increasingly echo the new Board’s view too.

That's 13 lost this season now. And most of those we didn't deserve to lose and have been undone by conceding silly goals. The back 4 doesn't look terrible. But the protection in front is not capable of doing it for 90 minutes and that 2 or 3 minutes of lapse of concentration completely does us. Sunderland's first goal was a virtually identical situation to Morecambe's where the ball clears to the edge of our box and there is no one in sight to close down the attacker putting in a shot. And like Tuesday a lucky bounce means a goal. The second goal was where the midfield was completely missing in action and not closing down or being in the right position. We don't seem to learn how to defend properly. Not sure Kane is the player we need in the DM position, since January he has been ordinary at best. And when we can't keep the ball out of our net it is highlighted big time when we miss such gilt edged chances. But the pressure up front knowing that they need to score 2 every game just to get something out of the game and at least 3 to win is huge and has clearly got to quite a few of the players. Priority has to be a DM set up to not concede so many goals next season. Might mean we score fewer goals but who cares about winning 7-2 or 5-1 or 3-2, I would be happier with 2-0 or 2-1 and promotion.
