This is a fantastic stat πŸ‘

Is the closest Coventry? Although they sadly close the station on match days, so might not count.
Exeter City is closest. Though it's not a major station like Ox Parkway.

I don't think Coventry is used much. For some reason it's not suitable!

Look at all of you with your green reasons for not wanting to drive, I am just looking forward to the ability to drink more beer and still be able to get home 🍻

Parkway only has 758 spaces. I've never used it but apparently on a Saturday it's relatively busy already, so only a portion of those spaces will even be available for fans. May not be a problem directly for me as I get there early, but knowing this and with the improved facilities around the ground, will other people start doing the same?

Unfortunately, as much as people can try to pretend, public transport will simply never be as convenient or comfortable as driving. First issue obviously being you're set by pre-determined schedules - when you leave/come back is not really up to you. Comfort should be quite self-explanatory (last time I was on a bus I had someone behind me coughing their guts up, the woman to my right playing a game on her phone with it full volume, and a kid throwing a tantrum with it's mum screaming at it downstairs...fun....)

I've done most away games for a few years now and have driven to all but 2. Other people have got the bus, train etc to them with no issues, and this is my exact point...

It's about choice. The new stadium could essentially come down to, unless you get there *very* early, you have no choice but to get the bus and train. That could potentially put a lot of 'casual' fans off.
Sorry but that is nowhere near correct.

On Saturday 29 April (last date I have figures for), at 1:40pm the P&R at Parkway was only 21% full. It has 1,229 spaces. There is also the Station car park, which has another 750 spaces, meaning there are approximately 2,000 spaces just over the road from the stadium. If 21% of the total was used it would still leave nearly 1,600 spaces for football fans. Don't forget, not all of the spaces at The Kassam are available to us either, as a fair few are used by cinema goers and other users of the Ozone facilities, so it really is no different.

Furthermore, at the same time, on the same day, there were a further 1,625 spaces available at Peartree and Seacourt, which were less than 30% occupied, meaning a further 1,150 spaces were empty. The club will be running buses to the stadium from ALL P&R sites around the city and surrounding area, with incentivised tickets available to fans.

If you still want to drive, and park near the exit to the P&R at Parkway, I really don't see that it will be any different at all to your current routine, neither will getting away after the game. Also, part of the plan is to provide enough things for fans to do before and after games, so that fans arrive and depart over a longer period of time, meaning that people like you, who want to rush straight off, will in all probability find it even easier. And all of this ignores the fact that most people WILL NOT be driving anyway.

There really is no more to say!

So this is how you fill your spare time when not counting dots for OUFC, you are counting spare spaces in Oxford park and ride carparks :ROFLMAO:

I've already put a deposit down on a Jetski that I'll use to get from the nice canal side Garden of the highwayman to Stratfield Brake, then a short walk to the ground

Is there any information out there about where Oxford fans are located within the county? Would be interesting to see.

If the club has this information, why haven't they released it?
Yes I do Steve, there was a survey carried out a few years ago. The largest grouping of OUFC ranked fans by postcode was

1) Kidlington
2) Abingon
3) East Oxford/GL
4) Bicester
5) Banbury
6) out of Oxfordshire
7) Witney
8) Oxford City

Not sure why my comments on here have riled so many up.

I respect everyone's opinions on the new stadium plans and their preference of travel to attend games, but obviously this differs person to person.

I've merely indicated my thoughts and experiences on my journey/travel to the current stadium (Kassam), and the potential consequences the new stadium and it's plans may have on my matchday travel & experience. My reality and preferences may be different to yours, or less positive than yours, but why does that mean I shouldn't express them? Surely the discussion around the less positive side to football, stadiums etc is part of the reason forums like this exist? Shouldn't everyone who has a different or less positive opinion on a matter be free to express said opinion without accusations of being 'selfish', 'a pain', or a 'negative' person?

I want the new stadium to go ahead, but I also do have concerns. I see no benefit of focusing solely on the 'good' and just pretending there are no potential flaws or issues. Doing so only plays into the hands of groups like FoSB and those adamantly opposed to the plans - it makes us, as a fanbase, look like we're viewing it all through our yellow tinted glasses which as we all know will be a stick FoSB will bash us with to the ends of the earth if they can.

Anyway, let's hope whatever the outcome it's for the benefit of the club, the fanbase, and local communities.

It seems like your usual match day experience is getting to the ground early (I don't know if you then meet people for a drink, food, chat??)

Go to the game.

Leave asap after.

For many people the matchday is more social. A chance to catch up with friends. Socialise.

Maybe that's why you feel like you've riled people up (deliberately or otherwise). Their matchday experience is very different to their perecption of yours, and their replies reflect that?

I'm beginning to see more around Wallingford/Benson/Goring too - a few shirts popping up here and there

Because anyone who has a difference of opinion is instantly a secret agent...
You’re not doing yourself any favours. You seem to think 1 entrance/exit form the largest car park (free as well ) will be easier than 3 car parks with better infrastructure, sorry Ian or is it Victoria or Susan maybe even Margret.

you are not being serious are you? The Parkway P&R even on the last Saturday before Christmas 2022 was less than half full. Its under a quarter full most Saturdays. That factual information has been in the public domain for some time now, and is very well known.

As suggested to you previously why not cycle over to the Triangle, its what the green party advocate? Cycle to games, as in on your bike

If this information would support the clubs rhetoric that reducing car use and increasing public transport will benefit the fans then why haven't they released it themselves? Seems they're missing a trick!
No they’re not! Wait until the plans are released then moan sorry have your say

Here's the full list of 92 but it's from 2016 so will have changed a bit.
For example we're listed as second furthest after Yeovil but they're obviously now non league.
Closest is St James Park (Exeter), 2nd Old Trafford, 3rd St James Park (Newcastle). Coventry is 4th.
