Has the release clause definitely expired? Has anyone actually confirmed that?
Realistic arrivals tomorrow:
Brown
Smyth
The Portuguese centre back from Wolves
Hylton or Defoe
Aha, that could have a ring of possibility! Is he good enough, or similar enough though? Rothwell was more attacking with us.Just playing devil’s advocate but Cam to Blackburn to replace Rothwell...?
But he won't play any better for us than he will for them so if he's not good enough for them then he's not good enough for us if we want to be competitive in the Championship. We have to sign and keep players that can do it at the next level otherwise if we go up we will come straight back down again.Middlesbrough have got a budget and ability to attract players we can only dream of, Browne not getting a game for them doesn’t mean much about how he might do for us if we went up
Hmm, which of our current squad are good enough for Boro first team? Cross that bridge when we come to it. Good enough for promotion will do for now.But he won't play any better for us than he will for them so if he's not good enough for them then he's not good enough for us if we want to be competitive in the Championship. Was told a championship attacker at the backend of last week on loan - in the squad yesterday but didn’t play. Would be hefty wages I imagine but can cover attacking midfield and striker. Yet to see his name mentioned, don’t know if others have heard too. See if it happens tomorrow I guess!Realistic arrivals tomorrow:

And if Sunderland had signed him, they would only have lost 2-0 to Bolton.Blackpool must be gutted. If they had signed Cam they would've won 5-1 away at Fulham today.

Hopefully some. That's not the point. What we don't want to do is to sign players in this window on 2/3 year contracts who won't be.Hmm, which of our current squad are good enough for Boro first team? Cross that bridge when we come to it. Good enough for promotion will do for now.

And you don't think that there'll be a lot of pressure from our fan base to do well if we get promoted?Disagree. Alot of pressure from the fanbase of Boro to do well and maybe Karl's way of playing, formation suits browne better.

Two deals completed last week, one more Friday and Karl had two meetings today. So it's looking positive that we'll see 5 new additions. Anything is possible but I'll be surprised if Cam goes. He'll be looking to travel up to Wigan tomorrow and I'm sure Karl will not want anything disruption preparation so Blackpool will have to be quick AND generous if anything is to happen. I'm less confident of Sykes staying but it's now looking like we're closer to bringing in his replacement than we are of accepting a deal for him.
Dramatic effect?!How come if two deals completed last week. Or 3 if you say one completed Friday. Why has none been announced?
What you say is very true. But our model is to sign younger players, bring them on and sell them. Given what you say, that probably won't work in the Championship. The average age of players in the championship is about 28/29, it’s a prime, experienced player league. It’s obviously got no where near the quality of the premier league but it’s a hell of a tough, physical league for a second tier, most likely the best in world football given the finances the parachute payment teams have. Not every player is ready for it in there early twenties, doesn’t mean they won’t be as they mature, that could be the case for a few of ours I reckon.
