Transfer News January 2021/22 Transfer Window

if memory serves the reasons Danny left last time were Mapp didn't feel he would cope in a higher league and he also wanted a Longer contract.

if this is a last chance for him as a player then surely he would be looking for something more than 6 months or even a year

Also don't believe there is anything in this whatsoever.

Hylton is a completely different beast to Winnall. In fact there are not many like him out there. Unique and what a player to bring in. If he was 29 everyone would be raving. Players don't just fall off a cliff when they turn 30.

Jamie Cureton was still banging them in at 37.

Trust me, this is an awesome signing.
The problem with that is that Hylts has certainly not been banging them in over the last couple of seasons.

3 of those players are not match fit.

Hylton offers nothing different than say Winnall when fit.

Smyth isn’t ready for this level yet, plus Browne is coming back from a serious injury with hardly any football this season.

We needed players to strengthen the squad NOW with back-up in certain areas. The only player that I’d take out of those that we need NOW is Roberts!

When we played Blackpool in the play-offs last season it was clear we lacked, physical and athletic players who could hit the ground running, and we haven’t addressed that. Add to that, I don’t feel we’ve added to our forward line either.

Don’t get me wrong, Browne & Hylton are good players, but I’d rather they were acquisitions where they’ve posted all season with each contributed to their respective clubs rather than their current offerings.

Ignoring the rest, nobody knows if Smyth is ready or not. Likely he isn't tbf but until he plays nobody will know one way or the other, including the player himself.

I find it strange that Danny Hylton is seen as a brilliant signing and Jermain Defoe as an awful one. We shall see who scores more goals by the end of the season - hope I’m wrong, but I’m thinking Defoe.
Cost-wise though, Hylton or similar comes in at a fraction and supports Taylor to continue doing what he’s doing. It’s Defoe vs Hylton+another in terms of contribution, and even that’s an oversimplification when you consider which might be more complementary for Taylor.

Hylton is a clever signing. Offers something totally different, we haven't got any real nasty b*stards, to put it bluntly. We would have with him though and a decent enough footballer too. Got experience of promotion with Luton. Lives near to Robinson in MK, perhaps their paths have crossed and got to know one another. Obviously there are better out there but we could do a damn sight worse too.

We’ve got pretty low on potential assets so I’m all for Smyth and Browne coming back. Hylton is fine as another CF back up to take a bit of pressure off Taylor.

Concern here is none of those address the main issue of getting a centre back in - Roberts would be great. We need a defensive mid as well and someone who can compete at LB.

Ignoring the rest, nobody knows if Smyth is ready or not. Likely he isn't tbf but until he plays nobody will know one way or the other, including the player himself.
Yeah, if he’s a back-up/one for the future so you can assess etc then great, but not sure if it’s correct to say he’s one that’s going to take us to the next level, but hope I’m wrong.

Even Jerome seemed to allude to a player who’s coming in that’s similar to McNally which has turned out great, but not overly sure about Browne and Hylton at this stage either. Again, great players, but not sure if they’re right just yet. If it was 4 players that are on top of their game plus these then great, but not sure if they’re the answer right now.

I would prefer to see this instead of Hylton retuning if he's retuning

Unsure of Hylton myself but our recruitment is generally pretty good so I'll go with them on this.

But they aren't the same position so are you advocating one less striker and one extra attacking midfielder?
