Regarding fan noise, I think sometimes folk forget that the away sections are nearly always packed into one area/stand. The experience myself and Mrs Lounger have of away games (quite a few) are that more of the support get involved with singing, clapping etc. This stems from being in the thick of it all, so to speak. This is evidenced by all the well supported sides that visit the Kasstad. The acoustics undoubtedly play a roll with the North stand roof assisting in projecting sound but, it has to be said, as @ECYellow mentioned, a few more original songs would help our cause. The flags are great, well done the "Fanatics" but they alone are not enough. We need more songs, more originality and, dare I say it? less of the derogatory stuff. Yes, we all hate Swin*on but must be sing that to every visiting team? The recent lurch towards racist, homophobic chants and the quite pathetic "sex offender" stuff is embarrassing and should stop forthwith.

3000 fans in the east stand alone
Should be enough on its own to generate an atmosphere all match. Winning, losing or drawing
To create an extra percentage to the team . Onwards & upwards to victory.
All I say is sing &cheer your team to victory☺️

I thought he dealt with the time wasting really well tbh, refs are hardly likely to send a player off for time wasting and
rather than waste more time by getting too involved he just kept stopping his watch and we ended up with 10 minutes
injury time that imo we really can`t complain about. Would be happy to see more refs do it this way.
Why don’t refs go up to the captain and tell them that time wasting will be added on, the Pompey goalie knew he wouldn’t get a second booking for it so took the P**s, shame it came back to haunt him. 🤣🤣🤣

No it doesn’t, not all home fans are quiet at all. Bolton was noisy, Wimbledon was noisy, Wednesday was noisy. Anyway, if every other team was quiet why does that mean our fans have to be? It’s a flawed argument.

No drum. Clap, jump about have some original songs - it’s not reinventing the wheel
Tbh the reason it’s like that is because half the east stand sits down and half stand up, thought we were loud for most of the game yesterday & got behind the lads, especially once we got the second goal, could only see one outcome.

Love the attitude of this team.... 2-1 down and less than 10 minutes to go and we score an absolute screamer. Most teams would have been celebrating together with the fans.... but not this team.... They grabbed the ball and sprinted back to get on with the game in search of a winner.

He’s going to be a massive star. Enjoy him while we have him.

SSU so got a nice balance of home and away fans.

Frankly, until it went 2-2 the East stand was a joke. So quiet and so flat.

Legitimately, if it isn’t “yellows”, “yellow and blue army” or Robinson yellow army there is nothing. No atmosphere.

People won’t like it, people will have their rose tinted glasses on but it’s true. Our atmospheric home support is dire.

Your post sums it up “Atmosphere was flat when Portsmouth were winning” why does it take us to be level or winning for their to be noise?
I think it’s unfair to be critical of east stand. Normally we are responsible for any atmosphere in that soulless dump.

Here’s an idea, why don’t we in the east stand let you lot start the singing in future, and do what we do with the giant banners, and flags.

Cheer up mate, we are going up this season.

We got talking to a group of chaps during the game, one West Ham, one Chelsea and two Pompey fans (in the restaurant) Both the West Ham and Chelsea fans were very complimentary of the football we played (the two Pompey were less vocal but admitted we were better - didn't think much of the Cowleys though!)
We also talked about the stadium and having learnt the history and the expectations of our move to a new stadium were suitably impressed with the ambition of OUFC. I can well believe that they would come again if the circumstances were right. (not the Pompey fans, of course!)
It underscored the belief that with a purpose built stadium and proper facilities, an 18,000 seater stadium would not be a problem to fill.

Looking back
We conceded another two vey soft goals as we did vGills last week and sloppy goal c Wigan and this is what bothers me
We are as good as anyone going forward but the automatic places will be beyond us because we will always ship goals
This is KR’s downfall I’m afraid we should have strengthened at the back in the last two windows

First goal was Moore's and Brown's fault, obviously it's the first time they've played together so mistakes will happen. Second goal was a great counter attack goal and sometimes you have to applaud the opposition. Atleast you can't call us boring. 😁 No one is getting close to Wigan and Rottherham to be fair, they've been consistent all season.

On the atmosphere point, I have definitely noticed that since Covid some of the crowd have been a bit subdued. Perhaps understandably some are a little hesitant to stand, or shout, or sing, or jump around. It doesn't take many to feel like that to affect the overall atmosphere. Seeing most of the east stand sat down is a symptom of this.

I'd hope that when Covid is no longer at the forefront of all our minds the atmosphere might improve too.

The only time I can remember the east stand fans not sitting down are every scum.game the west ham.game 4-0 Newcastle fa cup replay r&d play off 2nd leg Wycombe when we got promoted that's of the top of my head otherwise it's always been the same the back would stand the front would sit

Agreed, but it does feel that perhaps more are sat down now? Maybe not!
