Home Match Day Thread 26/02/2022 L1: OUFC v Cambridge United

Three things from that which I didn’t spot live:

1) Baldock deserves an assist for Taylor’s goal, whether he got a touch in the build-up on not. It’s his movement which allows Taylor to ghost in.

2) Stevens will be disappointed with their second. A stronger hand on that and it doesn’t go in.

3) Hadn’t spotted that CB went through the goalie a little for the fourth. Not a foul or dangerous play, but explained when he charitably went and spoke to the keeper after celebrating to make sure everything was alright.
I was right in line for that second goal. Firstly Jacks positioning was all wrong, he showed far too much of the left hand side for the shitbag to aim at. And as you say a weak hand as well.

It was generally a poor goal to concede in the build up too. But I’m not wishing to pile on Stevens - he’s still learning his trade and is generally very good. Plus, he is having to operate behind a constantly shifting defensive line-up and formation!

He's clearly been told to write that tbh. Why on earth he wanted to goad a set of fans after what just happened minutes before is pretty baffling...surely he can read the room?
I doubt he can read at all

For much of the game Cambridge defended v well but they just couldn't deal with our intensity in the end. You can see how we are growing as a team. Thought Marcus Brown looked strong when he came on. But it was Joey's day. It's so sad as he would have loved the game. The whole club, players, officials and supporters did him and his family proud. RIP

Cambridge fan here in peace, chaps. Wanted to echo our manager’s words really. Thought you handled a very difficult situation with class today and I’m sure Joey’s family were extremely touched by the tribute. Can only apologise for Smith’s behaviour - an embarrassment and certainly not representative of our club or what we are about. Hopefully he’ll have had a word in his ear from the manager and some of the more experienced players (Hoolahan etc). Anyway, all the best for the rest of the season. You have a very good side - dangerous going forward and you’ve every chance of going up, in my humble opinion.

Pleased with the result considering the day, and a win to say goodbye to Joey.

The club did everything right and so much credit goes to Joey's family and his daughters for how they handled today. Also credit to Cambridge and their supporters, proper respect. Pity Sam Smith didn't get the email and showed an utter lack of class.
