Home Match Day Thread 30/04/2022 L1: OUFC v Doncaster

Golding looks a real prospect based on that 90 minutes. Comfortable on the ball, great range of passing, good positional sense, good size and strength.
Not 100% sure that he's ready to come up against the very biggest and best of League One strikers, but he definitely looks like he can play a part next year.

Otherwise, not sure we learnt much new today. McGuane is capable of some great football, but still hits the deck too often and too easily. Stevens made some great saves but then let one in from range again. Seddon, Bodin & Williams were all busy but not enough end product. Browne looked big, powerful and a little rusty.

Special mention for Jonathan Mitchell. :ROFLMAO:
Scuffs his clearance and then does a 'Mike Salmon' (the RadOx team seemed to suggest it was a good save, but for me it was regulation for him to tip that over the bar.....not palm it weakly up in the air).

Now time for the important bit. Some big decisions for KR and his team to get right over the next three months!

Interesting watching Golding today, wonder what kind of part he will play next season.

Other than that, meh.

Bring on next season

Positives.

McGuane impressed me today. There’s a top class midfielder in there if he can have a good pre season.

Brannagan, set the example again. If he stays, he should be made club captain.

Billy Bodin. Quality.

Negatives.

Jack Stevens. Just a bang average League 1 goalkeeper. I’d be looking for a new number 1 as Eastwood isn’t any better.

Whyte. Just looks a shadow of the player we once had.

Taylor. Looks tired, massively relied on all season. Looks a far better player along side Baldock.

You can see why GW cannot do anything at Cardiff - relieved we sold him when we did. Agree we need a better GK - the big Gillingham keeper would be my choice as he's too good for L2. Must sign Baldock. Interesting few weeks ahead!

Don't know what happened to him, but he looks shell-shocked. Great at getting to the ball in space, but no composure at all.

One year extension for Moore. Club option

Baldock, Gorrin, Bodin & Henry all offered a further 12 months.

Sykes set to leave. Rejected a deal

Winnall & Hanson gone.

Kane - may have a long term injury.

Whyte, Brown & Holland return to clubs. Brown & Holland both OOC.

I’d offload all of them, Whyte, Holland, Winnall, Hanson, Sykes, Henry and Kane.

Well, that was an anti-climax end to the season. Defensive errors galore and a lack of decision making in attack. Some serious rebuilding to be done close season. All starts Monday morning, apparently. Budget and contracts on the agenda.

Thankfully that's the last we'll see of Kettle (unless he comes out of retirement to haunt us!)

If that doesn't make the Kane signing a certainty then nothing will, no way Robinson will turn down the opportunity to sign a long term injured player.

Did I hear the RadOx team correctly there during the game...a "horror" injury for Kane?

Sounds broadly sensible to me, though whether the 4 will all be happy with one year deals time will tell. I guess with the first three (maybe all four?) the offers are short because of fitness concerns.

Ciaron Brown being out of contract might be of interest?

Golding had an impressive debut for a very young player and Sam Long noticeably helped him through.

Otherwise a very forgettable game, not helped by a contact lens problem which meant I missed much of the final 15 minutes. Did anything happen?
