Transfer News January 2023 Transfer window thread

The whole team haven’t created anything either. And how did Bodin or Joseph do against Barnsley with the big balls in the air? Our team isn’t built to have 50/50 challenges all over the place, so play to our strengths (there’s not many by the way) which is to get the ball on the deck. Our midfield have been poor this year in terms of creativity and we don’t really have wingers/pace. What have you been watching?
Everything that you say could be entirely accurate and none of it would mean Taylor contributed anything, which was the point you were responding to.

First thing I read was that he didn't play for his then club, Blackburn Rovers, due to injury! He'll do, sign him up. 🙄
By no means the most appealing signings but beggars can’t be choosers! We all knew this was coming. Everybody up and down the forum knew a midfield injury was bound to happen… As per, Karl knows best. So off we go in to the desperation marketplace.

If it were to be Davenport, the positive is that he is a genuine holding midfielder. Sits deep, breaks up play and recycles. Decent pedigree from Man City and looked a very handy prospect in the Championship two seasons ago. On the other hand, he's barely played in a year, has injury issues and couldn't get a game for a pretty poor L1 outfit. We need bodies, and I'd rather someone who can play that holding role over another technical player, but it'd be hard to get too excited given the obvious drawbacks.

What I’m trying to say is, it doesn’t matter who you put up front with the type of service we’ve been providing or should I not proving to our forwards as no one will score. What I do know is, if you gave the right service to Taylor, he will score goals, but I couldn’t say that about the other players we have.

If we don’t sign a replacement striker, then it’s a gamble.

We all know that Karl likes to gamble on players and recruitment.

He’s gambling that Smith, GO’D and Joseph all staying fit.
He’s gambling on not signing a CDM and hoping Bate, McGuane and Brannagan stay fit.
He’s gambling on Murphy, Browne, Henry and Baldock getting fit.

Well one gamble hasn’t come off.

How’s your luck on the other gambles Karl?

Davenport?

Will we ever learn?

If that gets sanctioned by the Maginifent Seven, we should just all call it a day for dignity’s sake.

If Davenport is the best we can do given his profile and no game time for Lincoln this season, I’d much rather give Josh Johnson a go or even let Smyth at least get a sniff of the bench!

Imagine if Mcguane or Bate now get injured. I’m so furious about KR’s ineptitude to build a proper solid squad, it’s simply mind blowing how we haven’t had another couple of midfielders to challenge for places and be cover all season. Words fail me

George McEachran still without a club since being released by Chelsea in the summer .
Had a trial at Shamrock Rovers a few weeks ago so fits in with our Irish recruitment 🙂

Exactly

I do feel sorry for Taylor, you don’t suddenly stop scoring goals, yes he may have lost some pace. But most of his goals were in and around the six yard box.We have been lumping up to him all season and without any support he has struggled.
Interesting to see how he fares at Port Vale who have also been struggling to score goals.
But I bet they won’t use him as a lone striker especially with Harrison there

Told Davenport one we know about as we was aware of him in the summer.

Believe he was on trial with Josh Murphy & Jodi Jones at Reading.
