Home Match Day Thread 7/11/2021 FA Cup: OUFC v Bristol Rovers

theres a few posts doing the rounds on social media alluding to TVP 'parading' gas supporters past the 'bird post-match yesterday?.... and also that there were a few incidents of 'handbags' too?

is there any substance to the above actually happening?

Wouldn’t be surprised, TVP sometimes likes to “set things up “

Just because they are under contract doesn't mean we have to include them in the playing squad though. If we're serious about promotion January is exactly the time to strengthen the depth in squad.
I never said we had to play them or put them in the squad I just said unless another teams wants them then we are stuck with them until the summer

I couldn't help but notice how strong the wind was yesterday. 1st half we really struggled to move the ball at any pace. 2nd half we pinged the ball around really quickly and during that blistering 20 min spell we really should of scored 3 or 4. That audacious free kick from Cam was something else and their keeper did very well to keep it out. Matty was so unlucky with his 2 that hit the post and how Gav missed his header id never know. Scintillating stuff. Then the subs. At the time it didn't bother me as we were so on top, but we just stopped for what ever reason. If you was a gas fan or neutral you really would of enjoyed that game. A bit meh from me apart from that 20 mins when we was sensational. 8 games out of ten we score that 3rd goal during that period and we end up with 5 or 6 by full time. Alas not yesterday. COYY

Indeed they did and, apparently, there was.
It's not like TVP to "facilitate" such things to justify their decisions such as moving games.
Not like TVP at all................................ :rolleyes:

perhaps both @OxVox and OUSP should ask the club for answers from the powers that be at TVP to justify their actions over the weekend - also both OxVox & OUSP should (IMO) contact Amanda Jacks* @ FSA to get expert advice on how to get proper answers from TVP as to why the kick off was at such a ridiculous time, and more so, why TVP took the decision to 'escort' visiting Bristol Rovers supporters on foot, through an Oxford housing estate after the game, when arranging buses from the stadium would've been much less confrontational or provocative.

* amanda.jacks@thefsa.org.uk is her email address, though for some reason the first part of her email address isn't part of that link in blue??? ( it SHOULD be)

So then we'd pay the same money, but have fewer players. You don't get rich by spending money for no benefit!
Sorry don’t get that post. If the owners spoke to KR and he said he could do with them being off the books to free up 3 spaces for the January window. Yes it would cost but if per chance the 3 spaces freed up are replaced but what we need for a good chance of promotion then we could earn more money especially if more funds are made available to have a team playing in a state of the are stadium whenever that maybe.

Later this week we find out which two replays will be shown for live coverage.

I’m guessing Solihull Moors v Wigan will get one of the spots, and the other will probably be
Stockport County v Bolton.

If a player is not registered in the matchday squad and wishes to continue playing the game at a reasonable level, he is more likely to be agreeable to a move (regardless of whether we get a fee) or to having his contract paid up at a reduced amount in order that he can pursue other deals.

It’s easier than that; submit an FOI request to TVP and if there’s anything they can tell you about their justification for moving the kick off, they will. If they can’t, they won’t.

This TVP ranting is becoming quite tedious.

Down on numbers because of Cop26;
Climate march in town ( which incidentally brought the high to a standstill);
Fireworks in South park.
Potential large numbers visitors from Bristol, which will need monitoring both at the ground and coming back into town en route to the station at the same time as the march and fireworks;
History of incidents between idiots attaching themselves to both clubs.

Seems pretty reasonable grounds to move the game to ensure all events in the city over the weekend runs smoothly.
Or was it a deliberate decision to personally ruin your life
Mmm, can't decide!!

now why would head of operations (TVP) decide to 'escort' away fans through a residential housing estate, on a Sunday afternoon? .... especially when logic ( and previous custom and practice) point towards sensibly arranging buses direct from the stadium to the train station ..... I reckon that TVP actions posts match were more than 'tedious' both for the residents of Blackbird leys, and visiting football supporters, on a Sunday afternoon, even if you see it as a perfectly acceptable way to treat both council tax paying residents and visitors to Oxford @mooro .... I think they were intended to provoke an incident

Firework display in south parks was on the previous night
March was held on the previous day

and, if you check your history TVP were seriously criticised by Oxford courts for their mishandling ( and apparent manipulation of 'evidence) for alleged incidents back when the priory was open pre match .... those represented by the then FSF ( now FSA) were all found to be not guilty by the courts

edit* and credit where credit is due , when the TVP liaison officer was posting on here ( yellows forum) the policing at home games changed significantly for the better - he seems to have moved on to pastures new, and, it seems to me we have a neanderthal in charge of TVP matchday policing, in the process dragging policing of OUFC matches back to the 80s if yesterday is any indication

As someone who WENT TO THE MATCH and WAS IN THE BLACKBIRD after the game, there was no parade or walk past of Rovers fans at the Blackbird after the game. What was not clear was how they apparently ended up somewhere around Merlin Road.

Perhaps they were walked the long way round the ground once the oxford fans had exited and then walked via Merlin Road towards bus stops North of the Blackbird by Sandy Lane?

I see the mighty gas bought a huge following of 797 and took the P**s out of support . I'm sure we won't be far off that number at theirs on a Tuesday night lol.

Sure… TVP kettled all the gas fans as they exited the North Stand… marched them all the way around the stadium down the alleyways, across a playing field, along residential streets and then past the blackbird just to try and get some more overtime.

Listen to yourselves!

The last time TVP commandeered a load of buses to get people away from the stadium their windows got put in.
It wont happen again.

Last line of paragraph 1. Didn’t happen. They were somewhere up by Merlin Road which is well up the road and out of sight.
