Based on opinion. Let’s look at stats - I’m not a stat freak by any means but it should be part of this discussion. We are light years from the playoffs. We look like we are going to be languishing mid table at best.
The only way to change that is to bring in some real quality, and KR has had plenty of time this window. We are just not able to attract the players he’s targeting. Awful window so far!
KR averages 1.6 points a game at Oxford - 74 points a season. Since 2011/12 season, that would’ve got you a play off place 9 times out of 11. The 2 failures to do so were last season and the unfinished Covid-hit season (hence why I did 11 seasons; 10 complete, 1 incomplete). A couple of contentious ones in there i.e. could be decided by goal difference but as an average, he’s consistently achieving enough points. He’s upheld that average losing at least one top player every year that he’s had to replace/adapt the system to accommodate. While a play off finish isn’t a promotion, it’s a huge amount closer than a mid table languish!! Then you have the cosmetic bits - good style of play, very marketable, bonds with fans/community and loyal.
Admittedly, as the competition grows and big clubs continue to spend and raise the standard, the points hauls grow and he’s got to push his ceiling this year - that’s a fact. We need to get going in the transfer market that’s also a fact. But there isn’t much evidence that any side assembled by KR will finish in mid table.
