He was very fast when needed tonight and collected the ball well tonight. He just looks too small in front of the goal imo.
According to it he's 6ft 2 ...think his posture makes you think he's shorter

From minute 1-45: Quick passing. Bate running the show. Murphy & Bodin beating their defenders. Anderson influencing things from right back. One of best halves of the season.

From minute 45-70: Couldn’t string a pass together. Charlton substitutes completely swung the game. Looked destined for a draw but McGinty makes a wonderful save one on one. Blackett Taylor had Anderson on toast.

From minute 70-90: Better. Constant time wasting & faking injury by us broke the game up brilliantly. (Dark arts wins you games) It killed any Charlton momentum. O’Donkor comes on. Runs in behind & hassle defenders. Gets a deserved goal.

McGinty my MOTM. Without the save who knows what happens.

Long, Bate, Murphy & Bodin the 4 outfield standouts.

One observation, Anderson is a liability at times at RB in a back 4. Brilliant going forward at pace and when no one is attacking him as in the first half (when he was excellent), but worryingly goes missing upfield too often and at the wrong times. When taking Murphy off at half time he could have been moved into the right sided Midfield role at least for 20 mins, as Wildschut looked well short of being match fit or sharp. Findlay could then have come on at half time to keep us more secure.

If you're going to have a boring mid-table season (and I'm not saying that's what we're condemned to yet, but it's the most likely outcome from here), then Anderson is the type of RB you want. The lad's an entertainer, clearly got a couple of footballing screws loose.....but whilst he'll make some goals, he'll concede some as well.

Not sure he's the RB for an automatic promotion side, but it'll be fun to have him around for the rest of this season.

Agree that the Findlay-for-Anderson change could have come a bit sooner and then we'd probably be celebrating a clean sheet as well to finish the year.

Player Ratings:

McGinty: 7 - Not sure he could have done anything for the goal, and made some good saves - and, importantly, held them.

Brown: 7 - Solid as usual.

Long: 8 - Quality. Great positioning which was impressive as he was on the left. Maybe should have stuck on his man for their goal.

Moore: 6 - Did nothing too badly wrong although caught out for their goal. Lacks pace which can make him look flat footed against quick attackers, especially when dragged out wide.

Anderson: 7 - Some brilliant attacking first 20 mins. Tired a bit later in the game.

McGuane: 8 - Classy performance. Still think he could be so dominant further forwards; if we sign a great DCM in January it could be interesting to see him unleashed higher up the pitch.

Brannagan: 7 - Better than recent performances, worked hard as always. Really unlucky with a great free kick

Bate: 8 - Superb. Classy passing, energiser bunny running. MOTM

Bodin: 7 - Some good bits, some bad. Gave the ball away for their goal but also had nice feet and did well for his goal. Always seems to drift away and disappear out of the game a bit during the second half.

Murphy: 8 - Unplayable at times. If only we could keep him fit for the rest of the season who knows…

Taylor: 6 - Got his goal through a slice of luck, worked hard and dropped deep and ran the channels nicely. Much better than recent performances but still not where he has been in the past.

Subs:

Wildschut: 5 - A couple of decent shots but not the quickest and gave the ball away quite a bit.

Findlay: 7 - Solid and some good forward runs.

O’Donkor: 8 - What shocked me is how strong he was, he seems to have developed that in the last few months. Looking a very decent striker and deserves a start I think.

Seddon - N/A

Goodrham - N/A

We do have some great players Bate ,Mcguane, Cam ,Murphy looked great keep him fit .Anderson superb first half got tired then get him off . But some lovely football at times . Good to watch Iam not giving up on the boys yet still alot of fun to come.

Well.... Charlton were poor, but McGinty was fine. He's very quick and I thought his distribution was good. Wouldn't write him off just yet.
Today he looked much, much more settled. A couple of times the ball came long and rather than rush out he left it to the defender. He’s learning quickly.

Clearly a very good distributor and makes good decisions. Just needs time and this was a perfect game for him. His best performance by a distance, he’s earned another start vs Exeter.

Murphy had them on toast first half, his ball in for bodins first was as good as you’ll see at any level and he was passing their players at ease. Anderson was also very impressive alongside him, but if I were managing I’d be making sure that someone was dropping in as soon as they both bombed forward (same for bodin who has no pace to track back). Not a criticism of them but more ensuring we have cover, we did look exposed. Regardless great win.

Rosie making sarky remarks about the supporters being asleep all December. Given that he is a club employee, maybe he ought to wind his neck in and consider why that might be before spouting off....
I think you've been whooshed, given that this game is the first (and only) home game we played in December.
