Transfer News January 2023 Transfer window thread

Boyd Munce in my mind would be a good signing, without doubt we need cover in midfield, and with Brannagan out for how long? Do we continue to play under strength.
Like George Mceachran they’d both offer cover.
Watched Boyd Munce with the northern Irish u21s a few times, found himself used as Oisin Smyth as a centre half in a 3, with Galbraith and Mccalmont preferred as midfielders.
Toal has been doing well for Bolton recently, but Boyd Munce and Kofi Balmer would of been the preferred pair

Well I’m gutted..

Think the budget was squandered in the summer on friends and associates.
Which may affect the sqaud for years.
The likes of which KR can’t even motivate or even get fit enough to play. Sooner he realises how one-sided these friendships and associations are, the better for everybody. He’s a mug.

Not as if we need a centre mid with our extensive squad .... surely he must have be worth a contract. We have the money , the squad places but won't sign anybody preferring to shoehorn Bodin, Joseph , into midfield.
Beyond mystifying
There is/was no budget in January. We are paying very little for Smith and Konate.

It's buckle up and get on with it time.

Do we know that for sure?

I imagine Tyler Smith in particular is on a decent wage at Hull, given that they signed him without paying a fee when he was already an established League One performer.

Would seem rather generous for Hull to not expect us to pick up the bulk of his wage, especially as we were supposedly not the only suitor.

Not saying you're wrong, just curious........

I don't normally comment on transfer issues, but will on this occasion, as this is 100% not true.

There was certainly money there, for wages and transfer fees. The fact we couldn't spend it is the problem, not a lack of funds.

Whether it's wise providing such funding, with the current manager still in place, is another matter altogether.

Can I ask your view on why we have such trouble recruiting? Is because no one likes Karl? He has weird ideas or is too picky? Or because we don’t have the right processes and recruitment staff?

^ this.

The manager putting bids in for unrealistic players who went to other clubs higher in L1 or to the Championship isn’t a board issue in terms of funding.

All comes back to structure though.

A structure that needs sorting with the removable of KR first.

I also wonder what the board think of the problem of not being able to sign players despite having the money?

I strongly suspect that they swallow the usual excuses in all their exotic variety.

It's the only possible explanation for why we're still in this mess.

Interesting to see who 'liked' this post too

It's a hard one for me to answer, I'm afraid.

Not because I don't have a view, or knowledge of certain things that have gone on, but it would be more prudent of me to keep my own counsel and not breach confidences. That's why I rarely comment on transfer, or manager, threads, but I felt the need to correct the post regarding funds. Sorry mate.

No, it's not.

Nathan Cooper on WATG did say offers were made on strikers in January but we made offers to clubs simply not willing to sell.

There will be other factors involved but that’s what Rad Ox said on Saturday.

It’s not really a surprise that Robinson went for players he couldn’t get yet again, probably spent the whole window waiting then had to get what we could on the last day as usual.
