Can someone explain to me why loaning out GOD is of ANY benefit to us.
At the risk of throwing out simple rhetorical questions - Do we really expect him to return to us from a spell in tier 3/4 a better, sharper, more intelligent thinker than he is now? When he returns is he going to be able to lead the line, be our main goalscorer, be an effective centre forward? Even with a little more self-belief, is he of the standard we want/need next season?

It would be of benefit to him and have no down side to us, with a potential upside, so as said above the biggest question is why he would not go out on loan.

We have botched his development up, in my view we owe him and should at least try and put it right.

He is under contract here anyway so we either pay him off, which is a bad look and premature or give him a proper pathway and see how he develops, costs us the same either way.

See Bobby Duncan’s back in the country.
Gone off the rails since leaving Liverpool, but was some player back then. Still only 22, should have him in and see how he’s doing.

I agree - I actually think we’ve done him more harm than good in the last 12 months and he needs to go elsewhere for a while. Is it unfair to say he’s regressed? I certainly think he looked better in a side playing the percentages than what we’ve been doing this year. He’s collateral damage from the KR era as we haven’t got the necessary depth to use him when it’s good for him rather than when it suits us to flog him down the channels for 10 minutes. He was a wiry, agile little thing at youth level and he’s suddenly a monster - did we fast track him physically? He looks heavy, slow.

All good and well saying we want some of our own to come through to the first team but it should be a staged process and only if the player is fit for purpose. I feel for him and it’s time we did everyone a favour, get a body or two more in up front and send him away for a change of scene.

I saw him at the last City friendly and he looked fast and alert whereas now he seems lumbering, has he put on too much muscle? He needs to go somewhere like Slough and play a much more major role.
(Sorry, you just said the same thing)

I’ve thought this for ages. I’m sure things are meticulous in the fitness department but it’s as though someone said ‘you’re in the men’s game now, you need to put on a few lbs to compete with the lumpy centre halves you’ll come up against’ and it’s gone much too far. He was so dynamic and sharp as a youngster which got him so many goals so to see him come through as a battering ram target man playing with his back to goal just seems incredibly odd.

Being told Ed Waldron has been up in Scotland a lot recently be interesting if we have found someone who he thinks can cut it for us. when i think we have had players such as hemmings , Marvin Johnson etc come from the SPL just hope its a player who can hit the ground running

That should be a given albeit under KR it was more a desirable rather than mandatory requirement.

With KR it was more likely that they would run, then hit the ground tbh.

Alex Grieve, St Mirren’s New Zealand international striker is one Des might know a bit about/be interested in.

Lawrence Shanklin (Joking obviously).

There is absolutely no way that our recruitment team will not be prioritising a striker in January. You must be mad to think otherwise. You don't go picking out gems like Beadle and working on one of the most in demand free agents in Rodrigues, to then not bother with getting in someone who can finish it all off.
Or they must be mad to think we dont need one.

Having been thinking about it today, I'm not convinced we need a huge amount. Certainly not the 5 or 6 some are saying.

I would say 3.

Striker. Not a forward player who can play anywhere across the front line, not a punt, not a winger/attacker, a proper, experienced striker. Go all out for JCH, Marriott, Eisa, Langstaff. We create enough for any of these to thrive.

Winger. A must. You see what someone like Edwards brought to the team in terms of creating space, running at people and putting in chances. We need another experienced good one.

A strong midfielder - this is a nice to have, something we have needed for ages. That player who can stop others playing. A Digby at Cambridge.

Having Leigh back is massive, it's mad what a huge difference he made, and I feel he will create chances and add height and pace.

We need Des to get a grip on tactics else we could have Haaland up front and we wouldn't score, but I honestly feel the above keeps us in a decent position.

With Negru being out (until?) and Thorniley so off-form and now a managerial change, might we fancy a recall for Findlay? I think I’d rather him around the squad than Thorniley at this moment in time. That’s if he ever wants to come back.

You're wrong Kip.

Perkins going back to Leeds.

O'Donkor isn't good enough and will be going out on loan

Edwards is out for ages so will likely return to Ipswich

Browne likely to be out for a long time too.

Smyth isn't good enough and should go out on loan.

Henry isn't good enough but we can't get rid of him as of yet.

Gorrin isn't good enough and I believe he is only contracted until January so let him go.

Woltman also needs a loan .

So that means we need to sign

2 X strikers
2 x powerful midfielders ( 1 attacking willing to drive with the ball and the other a hard bastard to get stuck in and not be out muscled)
2 x wingers
Sign Bennett until the end of the season

Then hopefully Leigh, Long, Murphy, Bodin, Negru will all return sharpish.

We won’t let Gorrin go, god knows why but he will still be here in a decade.
