Transfer News January 2021/22 Transfer Window

United head coach Karl Robinson said: “First of all, we thank Jordan for what he did here.

“He settled in straight away, he is a tremendous competitor and it has been a pleasure to have him here. We wish him well back at Blackpool.

“We have options in that position and because we always knew there was the recall clause we have made plans for all eventualities.

“We will wait and see if we need to bring in a direct replacement in the next week or so.”

We had plans for all eventualities last season that ended with us signing Grayson as cover for LB and left side CB, please KR don't do anything like that again!!

This is Karl at his absolute worst. We were very short before Thorniley was recalled. Now we are wafer thin..

What are we playing at this window?

I would think it’s KR finally keeping his cards close to his chest otherwise agents will be ramping up CB prices for us if they think we are desperate

Whilst I understand Karl can't exactly go out and say 'we'll definitely bring in a replacement CB before the window shuts', the past lack of defensive reinforcements doesn't fill me with hope.

Long can't be our cover for CB if he's also our first choice RB, and if something happens to Moore or McNally after the window shuts without a replacement brought in, we're screwed 😬

I agree here - happy with both McNally and Moore but if one of them gets injured we are buggered with Long are only option (Don’t think Mous is an option). Moving your first choice right back to centre half isn’t a sign of a promotion chasing outfit. Think we need another option in there as well as a ball winning midfielder and a striker IMO.

I thought Moore already got injured, on Saturday hence why he was substituted at half time.

Exactly this. I'm hopeful we will get someone and they'll be decent but we've been paper thin defensively for a few seasons now. It's been ok because we've got away with it with no big injuries or suspensions, as well as having Mous still able to play a bit, but at some point our luck could run out.
