Owner investment? donât make me laugh, they breached FFP rules heavily 2 years running with an owner who was prepared to pay the overpayments one the FFP in fines, canât see our new owners want ing to do the same it was an estimated 20 million pounds in fines he had to pay.
Yes they could do the same and yes with that investment we could have an almost complete new team to achieve what Bournemouth achieved.
But the draw back is if he pulls out and leaves the club with the debt who would want to take over a club with a very high financial burden. The investment the new ( when theyâre ratified ) owners will invest in a new ground thatâs going to cost somewhere more than 30 million but will their be significant investment in the playing side ie a few million to Alger the players we will need to be competitive in the championship bid we can get there.
Donât think thatâs to much to ask and Iâm sure these new owners to be will enlighten us with their plans as soon as an announcement is made.
Finally if Max Denim sells Bournemouth and leaves the debt with the club unless they can find someone willing enough to pay the debt and still have a debt a high one at that then more fool them.
The stadium will cost significantly more than ÂŁ30m and has been entirely budgeted for.
The investment in the playing squad is already there. But, as you keep referencing, we can only spend relevant to our revenue. That's why we have to sell players, so that we can reinvest into more future assets. The more that we progress, the more we are able to reinvest and the more we grow. This will be sustainable growth not quick meaningless money being thrown at the team.
You dismiss the "plans" but is it too difficult to see that if we were promoted this season, and it's far from impossible, then next season is Championship survival. The following season building again to lower mid table. Then midtable and established Championship side with realistic goals of remaining a top 30 club.
Whilst this is happening, we have an organic growth within the fan base supported by days like today, greater community engagement and on the pitch performances. There's absolutely no reason why we couldn't be looking at 10k+ crowds even at the Kassam. Match the growth on the pitch with a new, purpose built, community orientated stadium and an extra couple of thousand fans could easily add to the growth already seen.
You seem determined to look for reasons why things will fail at Oxford, but won't for one second consider the counter argument even when it is so much more rational.
Yes, it was also ÂŁ10 for them.was it also a tenner for morecambe fans today?
From the East to the North. How could you!! Surely ALWAYS a London Roader.!!Yes, it was also ÂŁ10 for them.
I'm pleased the club got such a good response.
I had a family bash that I was supposed to attend today, but when I saw the ÂŁ10 price I thought the club really deserved backing and made my excuses!
Apart from my tenner, I spent ÂŁ20 in the club shop and ÂŁ6 in the concourse. The club shop seemed busy, so I reckon the offer really worked well.
Also on a separate note, I made the switch from the East stand to the North Stand a few years ago and I'm so glad I did. You get such a better view of the game, and can get a far better appreciation of the shape of the team etc. ÂŁ10 was an absolute steal for that view.
That was my reaction too when I watched the highlights. Had to rewind it to make sure! COYYHoly s**t we scored a corner
Well that review drained any positivity from me, youâre either on a wind up or watched a different game to me.Well, I was there, as per usual I donât agree with some of whatâs been said on here, so hereâs my opinion for what itâs worth (probably not much)
I felt Morecambe were very poor. Some of their midfielders could barely control the ball and they didnât offer much apart from a long punt forwards of a hopeful cross. I donât think itâs a coincidence that theyâve lost 8 and won 4, a reversal of our won 8 and lost 4⌠although the goalscorer, Stockton, seemed to have something about him and their left winger McDonald was also dangerous, so they werenât absolute no-hopers by any means. After they scored they were a different team for a while, but eventually were well beaten.
We were nowhere near our best however, especially in the first half where our passing was so slow and completely lacked imagination, constantly going backwards. However we did look to be the side who wanted to be on the ball and make things happen, and we got a bit of luck and also had more quality than them in the end.
My player ratings:
Eastwood: 6 - I thought his kicking was terrible, especially in the first half, although it did improve. Nothing he could do about the goal. Heâs not as nimble as Stevens but heâs solid enough.
Long: 6 - Not his best game for me, he was done a couple of times and didnât get forward much. Sykes didnât always offer him great protection though
Moore: 7 - Solid enough, didnât seem to want to bring the ball out of defence much but saw a lot of it. One terrible pass nearly put us in trouble, but heâs clearly a decent defender.
Thorniley: 7 - His long passing was hit and miss. Again he had opportunities to bring the ball out from defence but didnt - Rob Atkinson would have had a field day against this Morecambe team. I think we can put to bed the idea that heâs anywhere near his level, but he did his job.
Seddon: 7 - Early on he was offering absolutely nothing defensively, and I was thinking to myself he looks devoid of all confidence, but to be fair to him he was in the right position for the goal, and he actually did very well for the assist as well. Repeatedly finds himself so far up the pitch, which is an attacking threat but means we are very susceptible on the break down his side.
Gorrin: 6 - I just donât think he was needed at home against a side who were never going to be pressing us with wave after wave of attacks. He ended up having the ball a lot and slowing us down with backwards passes. He did make a couple of good interceptions and heâs definitely worth a place away from home against the better sides. Ballooned an awful shot over the bar from a good position.
Kane: 6.5 - One of his worst games for us, certainly since his recent good form. I think he looks better at the base of midfield, where he can constantly be on the ball and spray it around. At one point he dwelled on the ball far too long in the middle of the park and gave it away. However, he worked ridiculously hard and was everywhere at times, closing down and tracking back. Certainly no lack of effort or desire which was nice to see from a loan player.
Henry: 5.5 - Terrible penalty miss - you have to hit the target at least surely? - and at a stage which would have put Morecambe down, but instead spurred them on. Also shot when a simple pass to Sykes on the right would have seen him in. Wasnât bad overall without setting the game alight.
Sykes: 5 - I didnât think he was great yesterday, he looked slow in a position where Morecambe would have been susceptible to pace. His crossing wasnât bad but nothing special. Did well to be in there for his goal though.
Taylor: 7.5 - A weird one as I thought his general all round play, and build up play, was very poor. He barely won a header, and a couple of times gave the ball away trying to dribble in midfield. However he got two assists and the goal, what more do you want! The second assist especially was a lovely header back across goal, and for his goal it was a great finish. Heâs a poacher and on this form will snaffle up any chances you can give him.
Holland: 7 - He looked so dangerous, a complete contrast to our right hand side, as he had pace and wanted to run at the fullback. Twice he cut inside and shot, and really should have done better with one of them. Hopefully the recent flashes heâs shown arenât his ceiling as if he can keep improving and do it on a regular basis for 90 minutes he will terrorise some fullbacks at this level.
As for the subs, McGuane looked very good when he came on. Iâd like to see him get a start soon.
We were mediocre and things changed when McGuane came on even Matty and Robbo said we weeejt playing well, but 3 points is 3 points
How has that drained positivity?! Morecambe were poor for me, Iâve seen way better sides this season. Iâm happy we won and Iâve said we were the better team and deserved to win - Iâm being more positive than someone who thinks that Oxford United canât play any better than that! Karl Robinson himself said we didnât play that great but whatâs important is we got the win when not at our best - has he drained you as well? Jesus wept.Well that review drained any positivity from me, youâre either on a wind up or watched a different game to me.
Morecambe werenât very poor.
Eastwoodâs kicking wasnât terrible (the ball to Seddon for Sykes goal?!)
Taylorâs all round play wasnât very poor, he worked bloody hard with and without the ball and the ovation he got when he came off might just support that viewâŚ
Weâre not going to ever achieve perfection, enjoy the moment, we won again.
Coventry are a good example of thisThe stadium will cost significantly more than ÂŁ30m and has been entirely budgeted for.

Of course the stadium will cost more than 30 million. If as many believe itâs going to be Stratfield brake there will be the millions needed for at least two other access roads and the cost incurred for the various shut downs of frieze way. So yes a lot more than 30 million will be needed.
I agree selling and reinvesting in players to achieve championship football will probably happen king after you and I have gone but if thatâs the way it use to be then so be it and my grandchildren can tell there children/grandchildren nâ!itâs been a hell of a long journey started with a 5 year journey over 2 decades ago but we finally got to the championship.
How long have we been trying to get good crowds? When that god awful man Nick Merrybtook over and promised we would own the ground in 3 years no thought crack on I couldnât see it as I felt admins found to be right that he was nothing more than a spiv.
I did think with Ian Lenagan we might have something but that went in the flute following public fans forum when he said we are on a 5 year journey for the second test running.
Now with Daryl Eales saying he would need help if we got to the championship I though no not with him.
Now Tiger was a different kettle of fish especially n with the the various wealthy members on the board, but when Thohir left to work with the Indonesian government I thought they would be it.
But when he came back and back in March of this year the rumour started over the takeover got me thinking great now itâs going to happen and people on here and FB were all having kittens saying weâre moving this is happening and planning permission will be a doddle but itâs not as easy as that.
I would love nothing more than to see us a successful club, and yes it takes time and a lot of us yourself included have been waiting a very long time. So yes Iâm sceptical and will find negatives which others seem to think wonât happen or shouldnât happen, but Iâve got news for everyone unfortunately there will be.
